Challenging Thanks

Pieceofcakethxsh_2

I always enjoy a challenge, so I was all set for Beate's weekend sketch challenge this week and I wanted to try out my new PaperTrey Ink set, Piece of Cake, so all I had left to do was choose my color scheme . . . this makes for easy stamping!  Except I wanted to challenge myself even further by making a thank-you card  :D  Since this set is geared towards cake and all kinds of celebrations you have with cake, this DID prove challenging!  Since the set also includes some flower images, I tried thinking how I could use those for a thank-you card.  Then I took a look at the 3-tiered cake image and thought it might could be used for a vase . . . I turned it upside down and omitted the largest bottom layer and voila, a vase was born (with pretty scalloped edges, I might add)!

So I masked the bottom layer when inking the stamp with Brilliance Pearlescent Lime and stamped it on Cryogen White shimmer cardstock.  Then I stamped part of the large cluster of flowers in Brilliance Pearlescent Coral and the single cluster of flowers in Brilliance Pearlescent Orange.  Green leaves were then added, to complete my bouquet.  Sentiment from PaperTrey's Faux Ribbon was added in Brilliance Graphite Black in the lower right corner and then black brads (SU) were added to the other three corners.

The focal image was cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Rectangles.  This was mounted with dimensionals to a card base of Stardream Flame metallic (somewhere between SU's Only Orange & Pumpkin Pie) and accented with a strip of Stardream Azalea metallic (a very close match to SU's Pink Passion) that was stamped with the single flower cluster in Brilliance Coral.

Here's a closeup of all that shimmer!

A piece of narrow white organdy ribbon & bows finishes off this simple card . . . and sometimes simple is best!

Be sure to check out Beate's challenge and play along sometime this weekend . . . you'll be glad you did!  Here are a few more samples by some very talented ladies:  Beate, Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie, Lori, MaryJo, so check them out, too!

Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to check back tomorrow for another challenge I'm playing in with Jami, Leann & Lori . . . here's a hint: Ho, Ho, Ho!
