Here's that Santa challenge I mentioned yesterday. When I was in Portland a couple of weekends ago with some stampin' friends, we had an image swap and I latched on to this beautiful Santa immediately -- I adore Santa images, especially the more "vintage" variety. Sweet Leann Yoho from S. California (you know her on SCS as elyoho) brought this one (Rubber Stampede's Santa Collage #3408F) and a few of us decided we needed a challenge! While in Portland, some of us went shopping at PaperZone and found our beloved Stardream Metallic cardstock and discovered this gorgeous "Mars" color -- a perfect Christmas red, so we decided to throw that into the challenge as well. If you can't find it on PaperZone's site, I know you can get it at CutCardStock.com (they are about the same pricing). This is what I came up with:
It's a gatefold card by DCWV I picked up quite a while back at Hobby Lobby, I believe and it was the a good complimentary olive match to Basic Grey's new Figgy Pudding paper. Here's a little better view of the card closed so you can see the layout better:
The Mars red matched the red in the paper perfectly, so I used that to mat my images. The one around Santa is embossed and cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Rectangle and the mat around the sentiment (by PaperTrey Ink) is hand cut (sentiment was punched with SU's Large Oval Punch).
Santa was stamped in a black ink on SU's Whisper White, I believe, so I decided he only needed a little shading with Pebbles Inc's I-kan-dee Pearlescent Chalks (which look a bit washed out in the photos -- it's brighter/darker in real life) I wish you could see the beautiful shimmer this really has -- hopefully you can with this closeup:
Santa's beard and the snowflakes were highlighted with clear glitter pen (as were some of the images in the paper, like the candies) and the Heidi Swapp Ghost Snowflake was glittered with Dazzling Diamonds -- Heidi Swapp flower crystal embellishes the middle. A bit of SU's olive wide grosgrain ribbon and some faux stitching finish off this card.
Be sure to see what Leann, Lori & Jami all did with their images -- I sure can't wait . . . we didn't share what any of us did until now! Thanks so much for the images, Leann -- I think I might need to find this stamp for my own collection!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Be sure to check out my color challenge below and play along -- you have until Sunday to do so!

I love the way you were able to use patterned paper - I tried and couldn't make it work. Also the way you left more space around Santa and the way you colored around him. Beautiful card! Thanks for the challenge!

Absolutely gorgeous! I consider myself very lucky in that I live and work about 10 minutes away from The Paper Zone in Portland. Isn't it a fantastic store? I'm probably there about 3-4 times a month, so let me know if you ever need anything. I'd be happy to pick it up for you and send it to you.
Have a great Monday - Regina
