It's time for another one of Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenges and I was happy to have an excuse to use my beautiful new Lockhart Autumn Wreath stamp -- especially since I needed a birthday card for my Mom! If you like this gorgeous stamp, too, you are in luck -- it's the Stamp of the Month at Ellen Hutson's online store. Go take a look at what all you get in this month's kit -- it's gorgeous and a great deal!
In the kit, you get this background paper that I used (Memory Box 6x6 Paper Pad - Studio patterns). This "paper" is a nice cardstock weight with a plain white backing, which I like because the white shows when you distress the edges. The patterns in this pack are beautiful -- you can see them all here.
The card base I used is an A-2 sized Dill Memory Box Notecard. You get 2 sheets of 8.5 x 11 of this cardstock color in the kit. The notecards you get in the kit are a beautiful Persimmon color (orangey-red), which includes the envelopes. You also get 100 copper brads and a beautiful moss velvet rick-rack ribbon in the kit . . . a wonderful value, I think, for $22.95!
I stamped the wreath image on Curious Poison Ivory cardstock with Brilliance Graphite Black ink and then colored it with Copic markers. Then I highlighted some of the fruit with Copic Spica Glitter Pens -- these are fantastic, I tell ya! Here's a close up of all that gorgeous glitter!
Next, I die cut and embossed the wreath with Spellbinders Nestabilities Petite Scalloped Circles and matted it with another cut of the Dill Memory Box paper. It is mounted with dimensionals to the card. I tied two rows of this lovely thin iridescent ivory-gold ribbon around the card base (I'm sorry I don't know the manufacturer -- Ellen included it with my last order), after machine stitching an ivory border around the base layer.
I hope you'll check out Beate's sketch and check out the samples Beate, Lori, Jenn, Charmaine, Laurie & Mary Jo made, too -- it's always fun to see how everyone interprets the sketch!
I'll be back a little later today with a comparison of the Spellbinders Nestabilities Petite Scallops vs. the Classic Scallops -- some of you had asked me about this.
And look at that site counter -- we've passed 200,000 hits here on the blog! I'll put together a giveaway package and be back later this weekend to share it with you!
