Before we get to today's post, I'd like to apologize to those of you who use Google Reader for your blog feeds. It seems my blog was hijacked sometime last night thru Google Reader and someone else was able to link to their blog posts. I hope to have a resolution to this soon but in the meantime, please check the name underneath the post title that shows in your Reader and if it's not "StamperSharon", please disregard it!
Here's Beate's sketch for the weekend:
And my interpretation:
These colors really aren't that bright/orange -- My camera just really didn't like them together for some reason! It's much softer in person. Anywho . . . this sketch was perfect for a little inchie in the upper right corner of the main panel. Read on to find out more about that . . .
Card details -- Stamps: Lockhart IB Butterfly, Kim Hughes Silhouette Blooms II by Cornish Heritage Farms. Paper: Prism Intense Orange card base, Memory Box Studio 6x6 cardstock pack, Curious Iridescent Cryogen White (inchie). Ink: Copic markers. Accessories: SU Ivory Taffeta Ribbon, Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Rectangles & Classic Scalloped Squares, Dimensionals.
The flowers on the green panel were inked with Copic markers directly to the rubber stamp and then spritzed with rubbing alcohol, as Gina K described in THIS post. I don't know how many times I started to color my rubber stamps with my Copics but had to stop myself, thinking they would just immediately dry and I wouldn't be able to stamp the image. Well, that genius Gina gal remembered the alcohol based Copic ink would reactivate if spritzed with alcohol (or colorless blender fluid) . . . it worked like a charm on this printed background paper! The panel is cut & matted with Rectangle Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape.
The adorable Lockhart IB Butterfly inchie is on shimmer white cardstock and I stamped some more of the flowers on there, too. The "wish" sentiment was added with black marker directly to the part of the rubber stamp I wanted. After coloring the butterfly image with Copics, I decided the white background was too stark, so I colored it with Copic #E00-Skin White, to give it a slight peach tint. The inchie is edged with orange Copic marker and matted with the smallest of the large set of Classic Square Nestabilities dies, to resemble a postage stamp:
What's different about this little butterfly inchie is that it is a magnet that will come off, for the recipient to use elsewhere and remember the birthday wish I sent them!
The inchie is held in place by another piece of magnet that's attached on the underside of the main panel. The ivory taffeta ribbon was custom colored with Copic #E00-Skin White to match the background of the inchie.
