I thought Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge was another good one to spotlight an Inchie, so I used that in place of the round element in the upper left corner of this week's sketch . . . Here's what I came up with:
The rich, dark brown & black patterns of this BasicGrey Granola paper made me think of coffee, so I used Karen Lockhart's Itty Bitty Hot Chocolate and turned it into a latte! I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto some of the solid paper in the Granola collection, cut it out and adhered it to an Inchie Arts Black Inchie Square. The black Inchie Square picks up the black of the Licorice Memory Box card base. I colored the coffee cup with Copic Sketch markers BG72 & E25 and grounded the cup with a shadow of W1. The frothy foam topping is White Opal Liquid Pearls.
The circle behind the Inchie was cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities. The sentiment was custom made with my JustRite Brayton font on the large Harmony Rectangle Stamper block. I inked the letters separately with VersaMagic Jumbo Java & Aegean Blue chalk ink and then stamped onto more of the solid colored Granola paper. Do you sometimes have trouble with these larger-surfaced fonts not stamping a good, solid impression? Did you know it will help if you condition your stamps? You can view a complete tutorial on how to condition your JustRite stamps HERE. Another thing that will help you get a good stamped impression is to use the chalk inks like I did here -- they give a good, opaque coverage.
The sentiment was cut with Spellbinders new Curved Rectangle MegaNestabilities and the edges inked with more of the Java ink, to bring out that beautiful embossed edge of the die cut. Square Copper We R MemoryKeepers brads (Coppered Out collection) finish off this card.
Be sure to check out awesome sketch samples from these ladies and we hope you'll play along with the sketch this weekend! Beate, Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Lori and Mary Jo. Have wonderful weekend!
