Welcome to the Gina K. Designs March Release Inspiration Hop 2! Today we are sharing with you three of the stamp sets that were released last Thursday night and are currently available in the Gina K Designs store: Bring The Bling, Warm With Love, and Make A Splash!
Bring The Bling, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger -- While this set makes fabulous guides to place your own gemstones, pearls, liquid pearls or glittery dots, I thought it would also make great piercing or stitching guides, so here’s what I did with it:
I lined up all three separate stamps I wanted to use on an acrylic block and inked them with Memento Desert Sand and Tuxedo Black inks, then stamped them onto GKD Pure Luxury 120 lb. heavy base weight Ivory cardstock and pierced holes in all of the dots:
This would be a great look in itself, but I decided to use the holes as an embroidery guide and did some simple straight stitching and French knots with green and pink embroidery thread:
The images were die cut with Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangle Megabilities (before stitching!), layered onto a black mat, and then adhered to a rose card base made from Spellbinders largest Grand Scalloped Square Nestabilities (scored and folded in half).
Make A Splash, illustrated by Asela Hopkins -- Asela’s sweet sea life set is adorable and my girls flipped over it! Although I thought this card would make a wonderful boy’s card, my 8-year old daughter fell in love with it!
I stamped this cute octopus and Hugs sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Gina K Designs Pure Luxury 120 lb. heavy base weight Ivory cardstock and colored him with these Copic markers:
I added a few “bubbles” from Melanie’s Bring The Bling set and then die cut the images with Spellbinders Labels Three Nestabilities die. Wide navy grosgrain ribbon was machine zig zag stitched in place, along with a little flag I cut from patterned paper.
Warm With Love, illustrated by Theresa Momber -- This set is gorgeous and so elegant . . . I adore this swan image!
I stamped the swan with Memento London Fog ink onto an Arturo Single Notecard (similar to watercolor paper) and then used Copic Various Ink Refills to "watercolor" the image:
I placed drops of Various Ink onto a palette and used a water reservoir brush filled with Copic Colorless Blender Solution to pick up the ink color and watercolor it onto the Arturo paper. Here are the ink colors I used, to achieve a nice depth of color to the water and shading on the swan:
The swan's reflection that Theresa drew into the water image makes is so easy to get such a nice realistic look! I stamped one of my all-time favorite sentiments from this set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then mounted the image with foam tape to Webster's die cut paper.
