Welcome to the first of Gina K Designs’ January stamp set release inspiration blog hops! We hope you enjoyed the Release Party last night -- Remember, all of the new January release stamp sets are now available in Gina’s store!
Our first stamp set being featured today is Stately Flowers 3 by Melanie Muenchinger:
Be still, my heart -- being from the south, I ADORE all the magnolia trees we have down here! They are so large and well, stately(!) with gorgeous huge white blooms . . . I knew I had to use this beautiful flower for my project today!
I decided to raid my stash of notecards and notebooks and found this set that needed some spiffing up . . . I loved the soft yellow stripes and thought they were a nice compliment to the white blooms.
Don’t let coloring white flowers intimidate you -- just a little gray shading in a few spots is all you need to accentuate them:
I stamped the magnolia blossoms with Memento London Fog (for a softer look than black) onto Gina’s Pure Luxury Heave Base Weight white cardstock and then used Copic T0, T1 and T2 on the blooms, E55 and E57 on the stem, and G94 for the leaves.
Our next featured set today is Mehndi Wishes by Rupa Shevde:
What a fun set! I liked the pattern of this spiral notebook I had in my stash and thought it went well with the feeling of this stamp set:
I embossed the Turquoise Sea cardstock and then die cut it (the color matched perfectly with the elastic band on the notebook that is designed to keep it all closed!). Next, I stamped this fabulous bird (peacock?) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Gina’s Ivory Heavy Base Weight cardstock and colored it with Copic markers (colors listed below). The sentiment was die cut with Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio die and while the cardstock was still in the die, I airbrushed it with Copic BG53, to match the turquoise cardstock.
These Gina K design team members also have samples to share today. Make sure you leave a comment on each of the blogs because two random winners from all of the comments will be chosen to receive a grab bag of free stamps (at least 12 stamp sets in each bag)! The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you have to win . . . good luck! Winners will be announced Monday in the Big News forum at StampTV.
