Meet the newest member of our family . . . Harley Maximus:
Birthdate: 7.6.08 (7 wks); Weight: 7 Lbs; Height: 10"
What you can't see in this photo (buried in the grass) are his huge paws . . . he'll be growing into them, as he's a Great Dane! And yes, we've had one before and know what to expect from them. They think they are lap dogs, will sit on the sofa just like a human and crawl up into bed with you when you are sound asleep!
When taller (at about 1 year), they can drink from the kitchen or bathroom sink and also make a snack out of anything you might happen to leave out on the kitchen counter! But they are the friendliest buckets of love you'll ever find and amazingly, very gentle with children. Watch out for their bark -- most of the time, it's worse than their bite!
The girls had been begging for a dog for a while and seriously, who could resist that face? A friend told me I had no backbone at all, LOL!
So if I'm not here, I'll probably be training or walking the new puppy or buying more food for him . . . hopefully I'll still be able to squeeze in some crafting time! Have a wonderful weekend!
He is absolutely adorable!!!!!

He is absolutely adorable! I could not resist that face either. His markings are really pretty as well. Well, Missy, you will be doing more than feeding, walking, and training a puppy but you better have a big pooper scooper! LOL

Lucky lucky you. We have an Irish Wolfhound. We've been there done that. Our WH is the softest gentlest dog I've ever had. Oh boy, is she quick when you leave something on the counter. Enjoy. They eat LOTS of food. - Nimmy

What a sweet face. I had a Great Dane growing up, when he stood up on his hind legs he was taller than my 6ft tall dad!! What a sweet dog he was. I'm sure yours will be just as sweet and fun!

It took a while for the pic to upload, so at first I thought Harley Maximus was a human baby and thought, wow, Sharon's family has a wild side that I wouldn't have guessed at! (because of the unusual name.)
I have to admit, I was relieved to see it was a puppy! He IS irresistable! Congrats!

He is an absolutely precious Boston and beautifully marked!! I had Danes for over 35 years and they will always be my favorite breed. My last two were Harlequins. I will look forward to watching him grow and develop. From time to time I post little snippets about my dogs on my card blog and as you can see by its name, my dogs are a big part of my life.

He is sooo adorable, and perfect timing, I'm going to use him as an enticement to get my hubby to change his mind about another one. We had one 25 years ago, but have had Shih Tzu's ever since, but I have longed for another sweet gentle GD ever since. Thanks Sharon, this is a great enabler of a different sort!

Oh he is so cute! I have a 225lb 33" at the shoulders Old English Mastiff who also thinks she is a lap dog! She has also stolen more items than I can count from the kitchen counters.
I have to hide the goodies on top of the fridge now! lol But what joys these big dogs are!
I love the puppy stage! Enjoy!

Hi Sharon,
I just popped over to Judith's blog...to see her dog.
Did you happen to see the card that she made with Hanna Stamps "My Best Friend - Large Breed Dog"?

OH MY WORD!!!! IT's A P-U-P-P-Y (said in a high squeaky voice)!! He is sooooo adorable. I just want to kiss those wrinkles between his forehead. What beautiful markings too. He's going to be a real knock-out.

Too adorable! I've never seen a Great Dane puppy before!! When I used to live in NYC, there was this woman with a Great Dane who would hang out in Central Park. The woman (who was tiny) would be sitting on the park bench and the dog would be sitting on her lap!! You are so right about them not realizing how big they are! It was such a sight to behold! Congrats and looking forward to seeing your puppy grow!
