It seems I'm constantly organizing things in my studio, trying to find the best/better storage solutions. I recently reorganized all my ribbon and promised friends some photos, so here you go . . . I love these Embellishment Centers by Making Memories (I've never ordered from the site linked above, it's just the first site I found when I Googled these. For some reason, Making Memories doesn't have them listed on their site).
This is the larger one that measures 24" wide x 31.5" tall. It hangs on the wall in front of my desk (the ink pads in the lower right of this photo are sitting on my desk). It has cubbies to hold jars of ribbon and also Crop In Style's Ribbon Spool Stackers (again, I have no affiliation with this site -- I just wanted to find a better photo for you). I've found my ribbon stackers at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and the Embellishment Center at Michael's -- use your coupon!
I've tried to organize by color: reds, oranges, yellows and white/cream are in this center. The jars usually contain the same type variety -- wide satin, polka dot, swirls, velvet, etc. that I've gotten from the same source . . . that's just how my head organizes things! So I know if I want a polka dot, I can go to that jar and find the color I need.
On top of my ink pad holders is Stampin' Up's ribbon in their holders, along with my scrap ribbon jar. I stick all kinds of small scraps in there -- you just never know when it will be the perfect piece for your project!
Okay, don't gasp . . . but I have another smaller Embellishment Center on another wall!
It measures 27" tall x 18" wide and houses greens, blues, violets and dark neutrals (black/brown). It hangs on the wall next to a wall of storage I created with my Store in Style cubes from Crop in Style . . . I'll show you those at a later date when it's organized a little better! Look, I have one empty jar left!
Can you tell I love ribbon?!! So how do you store yours? I'm always looking for new/better solutions!
I think you've got the perfect setup, Sharon! =) So tidy, so PRETTY!!

MAN! Between the Copics and Ribbon, I am beginning to think we were separated at birth! I have six drawers of ribbon, all spooled in rows, about 100 spools in each one of the four larger drawers and about 50 each in the two smaller drawers. What is that 500? Geezy petes, that's embarassing.
But, I usually get two of each color/style because I tend to make cards in sets for selling at a local boutique or for card swaps with my galpals.
If I had more wall space I would get these, they look beautiful showcasing all of your beautiful ribbons! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I put them together according to style, like all of the organzas are together, all of the Stampin'UP! colors are together, all of the patterned ones are together... etc. It's nice to hear how others organize their SCHTUFF! Thanks for asking us to share!

Sharon I have a ribbon problem too and like you I have the clear top ribbon holders from Michaels (12 of them!) and 2 of the large Making Memories embellishment centres.
Have you ever thought of drilling holes in the 2nd and 3rd shelves (from the top) and adding additional dowels? That's what I considered but found that I filled up my centres with other things and ran out of room.
http://marielovestostamp.blogspot.com/2008/07/punch-storage-and-where-to-put-my.html Here's what mine looked like up until yesterday - did you notice that I've left space for a 3rd centre! Yesterday I had a sudden brainstorm - actually rehung my centres 6 inches higher - so that I could get more towel rods in for my punches (another one of my addictions - and yes I've got the Nesties too!).
So you see you are not alone....

I think you have a great setup. I saw these at my local Michael's store over the weekend and I thought about getting some too! Now that I see yours I definately think I want to set mine up similar to yours.
Thanks for sharing your ideas!

I love it-- and now I have a want... ;)

I'm a ribbonaholic too!! I finally took the majority of my ribbon down and put them into drawers wound onto matboard. Each drawer houses 140 ribbons (5 yds or less each) and I have over 7 drawers. So in a little footprint I have over 750 rolls - yikes! I haven't had to iron any yet, but I do keep my satins on rolls in a MM holder just like yours because I use them often.

I always love to see what everybody else does with their ribbon too!

Can't speak to the US as I am in Canada but Michael's here carries the MM Embellishment centres. No shipping to worry about, and they honour the 40% off coupon. They have also been carried as sale items.
Hope that this helps someone!

I just stumbled upon your blog and I love it. I'm adding it to my bookmarks.
Whew! I thought I had a lot of ribbon! Mine is a mess and not nearly as organized as yours. I store mine by color in baggies in an old shoe-type of storage thing with cubbies. Not as pretty to look at as yours! Anyway - I think your blog is wonderful - love it! :)

I love your room and so wish I could store mine the same way...but do you know what my three furry friends would do? They would think they have died and gone to heaven!!! As it is, I get lots of help when I want to put even a strip of ribbon on a card, let alone tie a bow.
So I use those Crop in Style units, a three tiered case that Michael's carries that has a zippered plastic cover (so you can still see all the ribbon) and for my loose yardage, I wind it on clothespins ala Nicole Heady's blog and store it in my Sterilite drawers by color.
Hope this is helpful to someone else with kitties!

Sharon,
I saw a blog one evening, and I am sorry I cannot give her credit for this idea because I do not recall what blog I saw this on. But what I did with my ribbon (and I have sooo much of it) was I went to the Dollar store and purchased packages of wooden clothes pins (20 for $1) and took all of my ribbon off the spools and rewound each spool of ribbon on the wooden dowel clothes pin. It was very time consuming but worth the effort. I would take my ribbon spools last winter and sit at my son's basketball games and wind away. My gf's would see me doing this and pitch in! Anyhow, this allowed me to group all of my ribbon by colors and then I sorted them out and put them according to color in old fashioned penny candy jars! Beautiful eye candy! Plus it takes up much less space. I was then able to throw away all of my old spools, although I did take a part and recycle some of the circular cardboard ones. Hopefully for another project down the road! Thanks for your inspiration, you are a wonderful paper crafter and designer!

Oh Sharon! I'm so jealous of your space. I have a tiny linen closet at the moment but I've been eyeing those MM embelishments centers forever. My searching always showed the Large one. I'll have to look around for the small.
Someday when I have a room again. I will hopefully have it as beautiful as yours.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Hugs and Blessings
