I want to thank you all so much for your very kind words from yesterday's post -- I'm so glad it touched some of you as much as it did me. I SO enjoyed you sharing your personal stories with me!
It's Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge time again. I hope you'll check out Beate's sketch this week and join in the fun with us! Here's what I came up with:
Supplies:
- Lockhart Writing Letters & Snail Mail stamps
- Tsukineko Memento Rich Cocoa ink
- Copic markers
- Neenah Natural White cardstock
- Inchie Arts Inchie Notes pink/pink assorted notecards (find a retailer here)
- DCWV All Dressed Up Matstack
I wanted to find another way to incorporate those cute little 3.5" square Inchie Arts Inchie Notes that I did my whole sketch challenge card on last week. So when I saw this week's sketch, I thought the Inchie Notes would work well for the square element!
The background of the card is standard A2-sized (4.25" x 5.50") flat, then I covered the pink Inchie Notecard with patterned paper (distressing the edges) and adhered it to the front of my flat panel. The Inchie Note opens up to reveal your writing space:
I couldn't find any ribbon (believe it or not!) to match this strange shade of chocolate, so my solution was to make a faux ribbon from some of the patterned paper and attach it to the top of the Inchie Note.
Then I stamped and colored the letter image with these Copic markers:
I wanted to use the dark brown E79 marker that matched the closest to the brown in the patterned paper, but it was so dark that I was afraid the letter details would get lost on that desk blotter! My solution: lighten the color and give the blotter some texture.
Marianne at Copic teaches this method in her Copic Certification classes -- to add texture with your Colorless Blender. So I dotted the brown blotter with the brush tip of the blender marker and it pulled off some of the color, leaving behind a cool texture at the same time!
I hope you'll check out some more samples of Beate's sketch this week by checking out the blogs of these wonderful stampers: Beate, Cambria, Charmaine, Jenn, Laurie, Lori and Mary Jo.
