Blizzard Bites Recipe & 12 Inchies of Christmas

As promised, here's the recipe for the Reindeer Food/Blizzard Bites I showed you yesterday, and step-by-step photos of the process are shown below. I've tried a few variations in ingredients, but this is what I've come to like the most. **This post will also start a 12 Inchies of Christmas theme I'll be showing you throughout this month! I hope to get them all done for you by next Friday, December 19, so be watching for those Inchie posts about every other day! I used more of the My Minds Eye Be Merry red snowflake paper as the 4" x 6" base to my recipe card. I printed the recipe onto Neenah Classic Natural White cardstock, trimmed it to 3.25" x 5", and stamped it with a little snowflake cluster from Taylored Expressions Home Sweet Home stamp set, using Memento Summer Sky ink. The edges were sponged with Ranger's Antique Linen Distress ink. The cute little Lockhart Itty Bitty Snow Buddy (#3042) was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto an Inchie Arts White Inchie Square and colored with these Copic markers: The snowflake is a Spellbinders die that I covered with Diamond Dust chunky glass glitter, using Diamond Glaze... Reindeer Food / Blizzard Bites

This is a holiday treat tradition in our house that I'd like to share with you. I've heard it called a lot of different names . . . White Trash, Reindeer Food, Blizzard Bites. Whatever you call it, it's G-O-O-D! This recipe makes a TON, so I thought it would make good teacher & neighbor gifts this holiday season. (Recipe info at the bottom of this post). To package some up, I used a recycled empty nut can (since I used all of the nuts in this recipe) and covered it with this red snowflake paper from My Mind's Eye Be Merry collection. This pattern comes in Taylored Expressions' Christmas Key Ingredients kit. To customize the lid, I used JustRite Stampers' Brayton font and Harmony Classic Circle III Stamp Ensemble's round wood block. The middle 50-point font size fits perfectly in the rim, where the border would normally fit. When purchasing a font set, I would advise purchasing two of the same set, if at all possible. In each font set, you get two each of the 50-point sized letters and as you can see with my customized wording, I needed more than just two of some of the letters.... Read more →

It's supposed to freeze for the first time this Winter here in Texs today, so I was definitely in the mood for some snowflakes . . . as long as they are as pretty as this one and stay on a scrapbook page or my fridge (I'm not a huge fan of the cold)!
