With the help of a bunch of new meds from the doctor, I was finally able to sit at my desk long enough to make a quick project today. If you have an elementary-school aged child, you've probably seen this before. It's become a tradition in our family, so my girls helped me put together food for Santa's Reindeer this morning!
You simply fill a baggie with uncooked oats and add some colored sugar crystals. Some recipes call for glitter, but this can harm birds or wildlife, if ingested. This recipe is also safe, if your child happens to want to taste the food reindeer eat -- ask me how I know this!
Here's the poem for you to copy and paste, if you'd like to make this project:
Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.
I've also seen this version of the poem:
Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path will guide them on their way
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts next morn on Christmas Day!
For my bag topper, I printed the poem on Neenah Classic Natural White cardstock and stamped Taylored Expressions' sweet little Rudy Reindeer cupcake from the Season's Sweetings stamp set with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. He was colored with Copic markers R22, R27, E53, E13 & shadowed with W1.
I cut that all out with Spellbinders MegaNestabilities Classic Long Rectangle (large set) and then matted it with Prism Blush Dark Red cardstock cut with the MegaNestabilities Scalloped Long Rectangle die (large set). Some Foof-a-la buttons tied with linen thread complete this quick project.
We usually have the girls sprinkle this on the sidewalk or driveway, so it's easily swept away while they are sleeping . . . afterall, the reindeer are supposed to eat it, right?!! :D
Enjoy the weekend and the rest of your holiday prep. If you are traveling to be with family, please be safe. I hope to have a few more projects to share with you, but we'll have to see how much creative time I have with the girls out of school and hubby off work for the next two weeks! I'd like to get another of my 12 Inchies of Christmas done for you and . . . well, you get the picture!
very cute packaging, one year our daughter insisted we put out carrots because she thought the reindeer would like them!

I forgot to say that I am glad that you are doing well enough to get up and around, hope it continues to improve!

Cute gift Sharon. Now that's the sign of a true stamper - get the medicine in so you can handle the pain and still stamp! Hope you feel totally better before Christmas!

Glad to hear your back is doing better! I know how much that hurts. Love the last few things you've posted - esp the inchies off the last post.

Good that the meds are doing their work. I love this project (and many of your other creations). Would you care to tell which font you used for the poem? Thanks so much. Have a wonderful Christmas! Greetings, Christa from the Netherlands.

I am so glad you are better. Aren't meds great and they aren't as stingy nowdays as they used to be. It is amazing how much we can do with pain control. If it wasn't for Morphine I would be dead. The funny thing with that is that they gave it to me when they thought I WAS dying and they found out my main problem was lack of enough meds for controlling the pain and I just sat and waited to die because I couldn't stand the pain anymore. It is a vicious cycle. So take your meds, but don't overdo because you don't feel the pain. That happens to. I wish you the best and uplift you in prayer daily. I love your card today. I know it was great to be able to get to your crafting room. God bless. Linda Crowder Ferris, TX
