First of all, if you are reading in a reader, I hope you'll come take a look at how I dressed my blog for Valentine's and let me know how you like it!
With flu season upon us, I thought this get well set might come in handy to cheer someone up or help make their sick time a little easier to endure! This set came together fairly quickly, with the help of coordinating notecards from My Mind's Eye.
The card uses Karen Lockhart's Robe (#4002), which I stamped onto a coordinating notecard, added a little orange Copic marker, cut out and adhered to an oval cut with Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestabilities. The "...get comfy, rest and feel better..." sentiment is also by Lockhart Stamp Company. The scalloped border was created with Long Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities. Machine zig-zag stitching on the far right sentiment strip gives a little added interest:
The envelope on the top right holds a packet of instant soup. The envelope was created by simply machine stitching thesides and bottom of the notecard together, leaving the top open to slip the soup in. A tab was created for the top of the soup packet with a tag die from Spellbinders' Tags 5 die set:
Karen Lockhart's In Hot Water (#2085) chicken stamp was the perfect image for the front of the soup envelope, I thought -- sure to bring a smile to the sick recipient! He was colored with Copic markers, cut out and adhered with dimensional foam tape to the label I created with Spellbinders Antique Bookplate die.
The round "Get Well Soon" sentiment is from JustRite Stampers' Designer Centers & Borders set. I thought that bowl of steaming chicken soup was a great compliment to the chicken in hot water! Hey, it's all about cheering up the sick person, right?!! :D
The travel-sized tissue cover features the Lockhart Tissue Box (#4003) you've seen me use before, colored with Copic markers, with the real tissue tucked inside it -- I love doing that! It was adhered to some of the same Oval Nestabilities & Antique Bookplate die cuts as used above. I just used a white pigment ink pad directly on the embossing of the Bookplate die, to highlight the embossing.
The cover was very quick and easy to make, and uses just one A2-sized (5.50" x 4.25") notecard. On my notecard below, the plaid front is on the left and green back is on the right.
Open it up flat, the long way as shown, and trim off the bottom .75". Make the following score lines, from the left, at .75", 3", (center fold is already there), 6"; then cut at 6.75" (trim off the last 1.75"). Alternately, you can start with a piece of cardstock measuring 4.75" x 6.75" and score lengthwise from the left at: .75", 3", 3.75", 6".
Wrap around your travel size package of tissues and secure with a strong adhesive. Now you have a quick and easy gift, sure to bring a smile to someone's face!
I hope you'll check back in with me on Friday, for a special birthday celebration for Taylor!
I love, love, love your set. Love the stamps, love the colours you've chosen. Wow!

I forgot to say: I personally don't like the readers. I forget to check them as I don't use my Google home page much. Just a personal preference but I hope you never discontinue your email feature. I have had to go in and thin out my newsletters due to the vast amount I began with. I really miss some and the reader is good for that type of catching up. But the ones I want everyday, I keep in my email inbox. Thanks for all you do!

Sharon,
This is just so adorable, the only bad thing about getting it would be that you had to be sick (it would be totally worth it, though). :)
I have this bookmarked for later on in my crafting career.
Blessings,
Paula
