Hello and welcome to the 8th day of Spellbinders Paper Arts' Winter release of die template previews. You are half way through the frenzy, are you enjoying the previews? Today I am excited to share one of my favorite die templates from this release! If you are new to my blog, I invite you to browse through all of my other projects that use Spellbinders dies by clicking on "Spellbinders" over in the right sidebar of my blog under "Categories" or "Photo Albums".
Spellbinders is celebrating their 5th anniversary with 16 days of sneak peeks and drawings for each of the die sets that is introduced. At the end of the day tomorrow, there will be a drawing for the die I am showing you today AND ALL the previously revealed dies during the Spellbinders 5-Year Anniversary celebration. That's right, you have the chance to win the die I'm previewing today, along with the SEVEN previously-revealed dies and you have until 11:59pm CST tomorrow, January 13, to enter for this giveaway!
NOTE: Commenting on this post is certainly welcome but does not enter you into the contest. This contest is sponsored directly by Spellbinders Paper Arts. Please look for the green text toward the bottom of the post to find the instructions for entering this contest via email. Thank you!
There are eight more days of previews and chances to win. Here is the remaining list of Spellbinders Blog Frenzy participants, along with the date of each person's reveal (you still have until 11:59pm CST January 12, to enter for Jennifer Ellefson's die giveaway from yesterday's reveal):

The die template that I am thrilled to share with you is one of my favorites of the new releases, the Grand 12" Classic Lace Border (SKU # S7-014) - MSRP $24.99:
I think this die is a natural for scrapbook pages, since it is 12 inches in length and 1-3/8-inches wide (and I'll have a layout to show you in the next few weeks that uses it), so I'd like to show you how versatile this die can also be on an altered project and a card (click on any photo for a larger view).
Look how beautiful all those intricate cut out details of the lace are! This box started as a Christmas gift box that I recycled and repurposed by covering it in beautiful patterned paper:
The sides of the box lid were covered with red cardstock and then I adhered the Grand 12" Classic Lace Border over it. This allowed for the beauty of the die detail to shine! To bring out the embossed details of the die cut and give it an aged look, I lightly inked it:
To cut and emboss this 12-inch long die in Spellbinders Raspberry Wizard with its 8-1/2" mats, you will need to make two passes through the machine to cut it and then two more passes to emboss it. To do this, simply place the die toward the top of the cut mats (on the left in the photo below), die cutting side up on the Raspberry Wizard's Magnetic Spacer Mat:
and run it through the machine for the first cutting pass. The lower part of the die will stick out beyond the mats and that's okay:
For the second cutting pass, simply slide the die past the top of the cutting mats, so the bottom of the die is now on the bottom portion of the cutting mats (on the right in the photo below) and Magnetic Spacer Mat:
To emboss the lovely detail of this die, remove the Magnetic Spacer Mat and simply repeat the above steps using the Tan Embossing Mat on top of the die & paper:
The flower on the box top was cut using Spellbinders Nested Flowers die template. The sentiment was custom-made with JustRite Stampers fonts and die cut with Spellbinders Tags Trio.
My second project is a card that shows you how this beautiful Grand 12" Classic Lace Border can be used as a lace trim type of embellishment:
The border was prepared in the same way as used on the box. I stamped swirls onto Spellbinders Nested Birds die cut.
The beautiful patterned paper already had a perfect collage background -- I just stamped the custom "Love You" sentiment (made from JustRite Stampers fonts) on it in red ink.
Both projects use these supplies:
Stamps: JustRite Stamps Trompe & Times New Roman fonts with Harmony Rectangle Stamper (custom sentiments), The Rummage Bin's Beautiful stamp set by Cornish Heritage Farms (flourish).
Paper: Webster's Pages Hello Beautiful collection, Prism Blush Red Dark Prismatics textured cardstock, Neenah Classic Natural White smooth cardstock.
Ink: ClearSnap ColorBox Chestnut Roan & Warm Red Fluid Chalk Ink, Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink.
Tools: Spellbinders Wizard Die Cutting & Embossing Machine, S7-014 Classic Lace Grand Border, S4-159 Nested Flowers, S3-148 Tags Trio, S4-160 Nested Birds. Tim Holtz Edge Distresser by Tonic.
Accessories: May Arts red velvet ribbon, Glue Dots, sponge dauber, 4-inch square gift box, Beacon Zip Dry Paper Glue.
If you don't own a Wizard die cutting and embossing machine, remember that you can still use Spellbinders dies with other die-cutting machines. You can find video instruction HERE that explains how to get great-looking projects with your Spellbinders dies using several common die-cutting machines.

Sharon the recycled Christmas Box is Absolutely Gorgeous...I love how you did the "Grand Classic Lace Border" hanging off the lid to really show it off. I am going to have to remember that tip. I really like how you did the flowers out of all different designed papers. It just reaffirms to me what an awesome artist you are the way you always put things together.
The card is Really nice also. Love how it's all put together, and then you roughed the edges with the fancy lace and old fashion feel to it. Just Great! Thanks for all the inspiration and art that you share....
