Happy New Year! I have another sneak peek of another new Taylored Expressions stamp set that will be released for sale tonight at midnight -- Love is Sweet. This is the most adorable Valentine stamp set I've seen in a good while . . . kissing Cuppies, a Cupid Cuppie, a Smakaroo'd Cuppie (with cute lip marks on his face!), a sweet child Cuppie drawing his own Valentine with a huge pencil, and this Eat 'Em Up Cuppie (that's what I call him!) -- doesn't he look like he's going to eat all of those yummy chocolates?!! With 16 stamps in this set, including a non-Cuppie heart-shaped box of chocolates (shown on my recipe card below), I'm sure you'll find a few for your crafting needs over the next few months and even all year, for anniversaries or any "I Love You" moment!
I stamped this sweet chocolate Cuppie with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Taylored Expressions' fantastic new Choice Cardstock -- it's a sturdy 100 lb. and comes in either white or natural white and works wonderfully with your Copic markers! After stamping, I cut out the image with Spellbinders Labels One die, I left the image in the die and airbrushed it with Copic BG10 on the top "sky" portion and Copic E13 on the lower half.
I used the same Copic markers to color this image as the ones I listed in yesterday's post that match these papers from the Taylored Expressions Valentine Key Ingredients Kit. Star Dust Stickles tops the yummy chocolates. I matted the Cuppie image with another Labels One die cut from Prism Classic Red cardstock that's also included in the Valentine Key Ingredients Kit. It's the same size die I used to cut the image, I just cut it in half and adhered the pieces to the sides, to give a little bit different bracket-type frame.
The "love is sweet" sentiment is also from the Love is Sweet stamp set. It's also stamped with Rich Cocoa ink and then die cut with Spellbinders Double-Ended Tag die. That cute heart brad is also included in the Valentine Key Ingredients Kit. My card base is also TE's Choice Cardstock -- the lower edge is cut with Fiskars' Threading Water punch. The Choice Cardstock makes a wonderfully sturdy card base.
My packaged gift is Peppermint Bark . . . very decadent, fairly easy to make, and it makes quite a bit so you'll have a lot to share!
I used this wonderful box of chocolates stamp from this set for my recipe card, along with more cute paper from the Valentine Key Ingredients Kit. Ribbon on the metal heart pail (from JoAnn's) is also included in this Key Ingredients Kit. My recipe card is my standard 4x6, with the printed area about 3.25" x 5". The directions for this recipe were a little long, so the rest of it is included on the back of the card.
Here's a copy and paste of the recipe, for your use:
Peppermint Bark
(Use the best quality white and semi-sweet, Belgian or bittersweet chocolate for this recipe.)
12 oz chocolate chips
1 pound white chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/2 cup peppermint candy, crushed
Preheat oven to 250. Line a 9x13 pan with foil, letting it hang over the sides. Spray foil. Pour the chocolate chips in an even layer on the foil. Place in oven for 5 minutes or until almost melted. Remove from oven, smooth with an offset spatula or knife. Place in refrigerator until cold and firm, about 20 minutes.
Melt white chocolate chips in a double boiler or in a metal bowl over simmering water (don’t let bottom of bowl touch water), until chocolate is almost melted. You can use your microwave for this if you’re brave! Remove bowl from water and stir until completely melted, stirring in extract. Let cool a little bit so it doesn’t melt the chocolate layer when you pour it on top. Pour this over chocolate layer, and, working quickly, spread to cover. Sprinkle with crushed candy.
Chill until both layers are firm. Lift foil out of pan and shake off excess candy. Trim edges. Cut into 2” wide strips. Peel bark from foil and cut each strip as desired. Chill in covered container. Makes about 2 pounds.
I hope you'll join me back at midnight tonight for another SASI project I'll have to show you, when these stamp sets will be available for purchase! Please check out the other Baker's Dozen Design Team Members, and of course Taylor's Blog, to see what they cooked up for you today!
