Graphic 45 Recipe

I have another recipe to share with you today, for a wonderful dip/spread I've had at a great tea room restaurant next door to my closest scrapbook store in Waxahachie, TX (whew -- did you get all that?!!). This comes from The Dove's Nest Restaurant Fourth Edition cookbook by Cindy Burch. I finally got around to altering a recipe box to hold all these pretty recipe cards I've been making lately. You can see how I made this project over at Ellen Hutson's the CLASSroom today: My recipe card matches some of the Graphic 45 papers I used on my recipe box, along with the pretty Millinery Rose Embellishment stamp from Lockhart Stamp Company. I printed "ABC" with my computer in the free Susie's Hand font, punched it out with Martha Stewart's 1-inch scalloped square punch, stamped the rose vine and colored it with Copic Spica glitter pens in Red & Olive. The scalloped square was then mounted on an Inchie Arts Black Inchie Square. A piece of lace finishes off this card . . . now stored within easy reach in my pretty new recipe box! WSC74: Easter Bunny

I adore this sweet Lockhart Dottie Bunny, so it was time for her (him?!) to make another appearance for Spring/Easter this year! Today's Weekend Sketch Challenge is hosted by Charmaine. You can find the sketch and her sample at her blog today. I stamped Dottie with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock, die cut and matted her with Spellbinders Petite Classic Oval Nestabilities, airbrushed the background with Copic B00, and colored her with Copic R81, R83 and YR21. Standard A2 card base is Papertrey Ink's Dark Chocolate. Patterned papers & ribbon are from Making Memories' Whimsy collection, found at Target. The paper was die cut with Stampin' Up's Top Note die. Just For Fun: Neighborhood of Simplicity

Some sweet stamping friends of mine, Alli, Carole, Julie, Michele and Lori, invited me to play along in their Just For Fun monthly challenge they do. This month Lori chose this sweet Neighborhood of Simplicity stamp by Unity and Michele chose the cute paper by My Mind's Eye (Bloom & Grow-Eye Candy). Those are the only parameters -- use this stamp and paper and make something . . . lots of fun! Thanks for letting me play along this month, girls -- I totally enjoyed it!! The neighborhood was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with these Copic markers: This image was so much fun to color! It's matted with SU's Taken with Teal cardstock. I punched the edges of the patterned paper with Fiskar's Threading Water punch and matted it with Stampin' Up's Ruby cardstock. Papertrey Ink's Paper Tray sentiment, Hero Arts flower & button on a 5" square card. I used this week's CPS #108 for the layout. Masculine Birthday

Today's project is very quick and easy! I don't do a lot of masculine cards, but here's my attempt at a quick birthday notecard for a very cool guy (ha-ha!). It measures 3" x 3" and is on a black base. Dark green paper is BasicGrey's Boxer collection. The Lockhart Electric Fan is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored with Copic markers G21, G85, W2 & T1. I stamped the Lockhart "hot stuff" sentiment into the blowing air and accented it with G85, too! May Arts ribbon. Button is tied with Marta Stewart's Baker's Twine that was light green; I darkened it with the Copic G85 marker. All supplies (except ribbonn) available from Ellen Hutson LLC. Red Fruit Copic Coloring Tutorial

Here's that Copic fruit coloring tutorial I promised, on how to color the red fruits on THIS card -- all stamps are from Lockhart Stamp Company (Strawberries #2067, Apples in Chintz Bowl #2054, and Cherries in Colander #2077) and were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. Since I would only be using a portion of these images for Inchies on the card, that's why you'll see a square box penciled over the stamped images. Some of the fruits outside of the boxes I tested for different colors, so that's why they may vary from the fruits/colors inside the boxes. All of the fruits used these Copic Sketch markerrs. The strange looking YR31 on the lower right end is a custom color, mixed with about one-third YR31 and two-thirds Colorless Blender fluid, to make a lighter YR31 shade. You can do this by filling an empty sketch marker, which are usually available for sale at most retailers that carry Copic products. WSC73 and Dirty Dozen Challenge

This week, Cami is hosting the Weekend Sketch Challenge -- you can find the sketch and her sample on her blog, linked above. I also combined this challenge with the monthly SplitcoastStampers.com Dirty Dozen Design Team/Alumni challenge -- to remake one of your oldest cards, changing at least three elements! I just so happened to have used this same layout on a card that I posted within my first two months as a Splitcoast member (October 2004) ... here it is (please be gentle!): The full details about the above card can be found at my Splitcoast upload HERE. And here's my remake of the card today (and sample for Cami's sketch): This card makes me smile, on the first day of Spring! I changed the stamps, ribbon ties at the tops of the squares, and the colors/cardstock to patterned vellum. I thought it was funny I was working with Inchies, even over four years ago! My Inchies today, are mounted on the lovely museum-quality matboard White Inchie Squares by Inchie Arts. Tagged!

You can blame it on Anna, Val & Lori! You see, one tagged the other and so on ... It's a little game of tag layed upon me by some friends. I was supposed to go to my 6th photo folder and pull up the 6th picture. That folder was coincidentally the same as Lori's -- my BlackBerry's photos, and here's the 6th photo: My oldest daughter (8 years), last June. I think we were at the car dealership for some routine maintenance. Gotta love those in-phone cameras when you are a Mom -- never miss a cute moment! And yes, those beautiful curls are natural -- but you wouldn't believe all the people that used to ask me if I permed her hair when she was a toddler with a huge mass of tossled short curls! WSC72-April Showers

Since I was a little too late to try and get a March calendar made, I figured I would skip ahead to April! This is my usual 6-inch square calendar page that hangs in THIS stand. Jenn is hosting this week's Weekend Sketch Challenge -- you can find the sketch and her sample at her blog this morning. As soon as I saw the layout, I thought it would be perfect for my calendar! I used a Webster's Pages' Mini Calendar Journaling Cards and stamped the dates with JustRite's Medium & Large Numbers made for the C-45 Monogram Stamper, but on the new little 1-3/16" Wood Stamper that will be available next month. The other layered papers are from Making Memories Chloe's Closet 6-inch designer papers and spiral journaling book (found at Michael's). The chipboard letters are Maya Road's Noah alphabet - I just colored them with the same Night Sky chalk ink and then sprinkled them with transparent glitter while the ink was still wet. The new Lockhart Itty Bitty Umbrella was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Neenah Classic Cream cardstock and punched out with Martha Stewart's supposedly 1-inch scalloped punch -- it's actually 7/8 of an... Framed JustRite Shabby Butterfly

This beautiful JustRite butterfly center from their Harmony Classic Circle III Stamp Ensemble is the center of attention in this frame I created. The butterfly image measures approximately 2.25" and was the perfect center to these Spellbinders Dahlia die cut flower. The butterfly was inked with ColorBox warm red, dark moss and dark brown fluid chalk inks and stamped onto Neenah Classic Classic Cream cardstock. I find these chalk inks are my favorites to use with most of the JustRite stamps. The butterfly center was die cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities and then sponged with Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink. Patterned papers are from Fancy Pants' Aged Florals and Holly Jolly collections. The wood frame base is about $1.99 (or maybe .99 cents) from Michaels, painted with Bordeaux Making Memories acrylic paint. The copper embellishment is copper foil cut with Spellbinders Grand Lace Border die, then painted and distressed with acrylic paints. Lemon Pound Cake Recipe

Here's that good old fashioned Lemon Pound Cake recipe I promised you! Of course, the perfect accent for this 4" x 6" recipe card was Karen Lockhart's Lemons & Bay. I stamped the image with Memento Rich Cocoa onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and then left some of the bay leaves sticking "outside the box" when I trimmed around the 1-inch square image: The image was mounted to an Inchie Arts White Inchie Square and then colored with these Copic markers and that lovely new Sand Copic Spica Glitter Pen that will be coming next month: The soft, pretty paper I used is from Webster's Pages Feather Your Nest collection. I cut out one of the butterflies from this sheet and placed him at the top of the card: I printed the recipe onto Neenah cardstock and then trimmed it to approximately 3.25" x 4.75". The recipe is continued on the reverse side and there's also a lemon glaze included.
