I decided to turn the Weekend Sketch Challenge, hosted by Cami this week (you can find the sketch on her blog), into a 5" x 7" wall hanging for our 1st grade teacher, for Teacher Appreciation Week next week. Her favorite color is orange and I liked this pretty combination of colors from My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow collection - Grow.
Since Spring is in full bloom here, I thought it was time for Karen Lockhart's Gardening Angel to make an appearance ... I thought she fit well with this new sentiment Karen just sent me "...water...weed...wait..." I thought it could apply to children as well as flowers!
I stamped the Angel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored her with these Copic markers:
Copic Spica Glitter Pens in Clear, Orange & Turquoise were used to highlight the Angel's wings, dress trim & flowers. Hopefully you can see some of that sparkle in this photo (click for a closer view):
Copic G00 was used to airbrush the background behind the Angel. I die cut her with Classic Circle Nestabilities and then cut her arms and flowers out from another stamped image that I had colored; mounting them so they would extend outside of the circle die cut.
The entire finished piece was mounted onto Craft-a-Board, the edges inked with Adirondack Juniper dye ink, and holes were punched in the top to thread ribbon through, to make a hanger.
