After seeing the photo in my blog post about the new lighter Copic colors below, several of you asked what my Copic storage unit is, so here's a full photo (click for a larger view):
These are Quickutz Magpie Nesting Storage System (I'm using three of them) that I've been using for about 18 months now. They are wooden and originally meant to store Quickutz dies in the metal tins you see in the last two columns to the far right (I use the tins to store my Memento Dew Drops and color coded the fronts of the tins with colored buttons).
They come in either white or black and Overstock.com usually has them in stock at a good price ($21-23). These are lined up along the back edge of my crafting desk, so they are right in front of me within easy reach (I took the photo from where I sit to stamp). I use a different cubby for each Copic color group.
As you can see to the far left, the cubbies are also a good size to store Ranger Distress Ink pads, Memento full-sized ink pads & Palette ink pads. I took the drawer out of the bottom of the left unit and it sits on top of the unit, to hold odds & ends. I also have a friend who turned her units upside down, so the drawer is on the top (just take the drawer out and flip it over).
I love these because clean up is quick & easy -- just throw the markers back into their respective cubbies! I use my COLOR CHART to select which colors I want to use, then I can easily find them in their cubbies.
thanks so much!!!! You were so quick too!!! It looks great! Now something else to add to my wish list!

I have seen the magpie storage units and have been pondering what else I could store in them besides quickutz. Thanks for the great idea!

Hey Sharon! I love this, so pretty! I think I am going to have to invest in a third rack (holding another 72) or go to this type of system! Yours does save space!
HUGS to you, sorry I have been MIA, life with the crazies (my 4 kids) has kept me busy!

I totally concur, Sharon! Due to your suggestion a few months ago, this is definitely my preferred Copics storage. Everything is right in front, ready to go, and oh so convenient!

Thanks for sharing Sharon. I have almost all of the copics now and when my order this week arrives I'll be out of room in my plastic storage boxes. This is a great idea and so organized. I'd sure like to see the rest of your workshop as mine is a disaster...lol Happy 4th to you and yours!

Hi Sharon,
Great idea - I did the same thing (must have gotten the idea from you)! FYI, these Quickutz Magpie Storage System are currently selling for $9 or even $3 at Big Lots stores. I just purchased two black sets yesterday. There is a 'thread' at SCS on now with the info.

Hi Sharon..Great Minds think alike!! I store mine in the same manner. I use the tins for other storage as well. Plus they had them on a great sale when I got mine....Love them!!

my question is that they suggest storing copics standing up. have you had any problems with they laying down on their side? i love the idea and went to purchase one immediately. much easier than the plastic cases if you are trying to add toyour collection and keeping them in some type of order. THANKS.

Thanks so much for the tip. I just received mine from Overstock and they work great (and look great). I was using mason jam jars which took up too much room.
Thanks again,

Wow, you are so generous, I thank you so much for this information! I have my Copics in Stampin' Up stamp boxes...I like yours MUCH better. TFS.

I think I first saw this on your site and I bought one too! I hung it sideways on my wall and took the drawer out. The space from the drawer is perfect for stacking my memento inks inside! Yahoo and thanks for the tip!
