Splitcoaststampers' annual Dare To Get Dirty challenges are in full swing. They started yesterday and will run through Saturday evening. You can find all the details here and can jump in at any time, to participate in as many or as few as you'd like.
My challenge is now posted there. It's a color challenge to only use black and white with just a little accent (15% or less) of red on your project. I hope you'll play along! Here's my sample:
This is an 8.50" tall notebook I picked up at Michael's Dollar Bin a while back and altered it just a bit. Here's what it looked like to begin with:
I guess you get what you pay for sometimes ... notice that crooked red binding?!! So I camouflaged it with the black velvet rick-rack, to make the binding look straight. This stamp from JustRite Stampers' new Friendship Borders & Centers (released earlier this month) is my favorite image from the set -- I love the swirly tree and beautiful sentiment/font! It fits on JustRite's 3-1/4" Round Wood Stamper. This image, including the border, would normally stamp at about 3" in diameter -- which would have been a little too large for my project. But since I only used the center image, it stamps out at only 2" tall x 2-1/8" wide.
I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black and Ladybug Memento Dew Drop ink pads (the pointed tips make it easy to ink the stamp with multiple ink colors) onto Papertrey Ink white cardstock and then die cut it with Spellbinders Labels 4 die.
TIP: Remember, just because JustRite's stamps may be in a circular or oval format, doesn't mean that's the only way to use them -- as you can see how I used it here. I used Copic Spica Glitter Pen in the new Pitch Black to accent the circle pattern on the tree. Once again, hopefully you can see the pretty sparkle it adds (click on the photo for a larger view):
The image is matted with another Labels 4 die cut in black and accented with a red Prima flower and black tied button. I used this week's CPS #125 for the layout of my project.
GIVEAWAY REMINDER: Remember, you have until Saturday night at midnight to enter for the chance to win JustRite's prize package of new product over at CPS. You can find all the details here! Good luck!
