Can you believe January and the New Year are almost here?!! My January calendar is posted over on the JustRite blog today -- I hope you'll visit it over there! :D Sorry I haven't been posting much lately during the holidays ... kids have been home from school, hubby is taking this last week off work and we've actually been enjoying some snow here in Texas (unusual for us)! Center of Attention Product Spotlight - TE Downloads

Today, some of the Baker's Dozen designers are spotlighting the new downloadable products available from Taylored Expressions! I am using these sweet Mini Calendars (you all know how much I love calendars!) that measure approximately 2" x 3". I happen to be particularly fond of this download, since I designed them! ;-) Here's some more information about them: 2010 Dated Calendar(mini): designed by Sharon Harnist and available in both black and brown. These mini (business card size) calendars can be added to a larger page leaving more space for design...create monthly fridge magnets, etc. I chose to make a mini monthly calendar set my girls can attach to their backpacks (or wherever they'd like), to help them remember the day of the week and month. I adhered these little calendars on some designer papers, dressed them up with punched images and machine stitching, and then put them inside plastic sleeve name badge holders for protection. The name badges measure 2.75" x 3.50" and can be found at your office supply store or WalMart. COPIC TIP: To make your punched or die cut images pop, outline them with a Copic marker or accent them with Spica glitter pen. See the difference... Read more →

WSC110: Wreath Angel

It's Weekend Sketch Challenge time again and Lori is hosting this week. You can find the challenge at her blog and enter a link to your creation there. My 7-year old dictated today's stamp selection. She was playing with some of my stamps yesterday and left this one out on my desk ... fortunately, it fit right in with the idea I had for this sketch! This is Karen Lockhart's lovely Wreath Angel. I stamped her with Versamark and heat embossed her with gold detail powder. I had heard Copic markers and embossed images didn't play too well together but I wanted to try it for myself. I'm happy to report that I had no problems whatsoever between my Copic markers and the gold embossed lines! (Maybe the issue is with darker embossing powders?) I was careful to not go over any of the embossed lines too much and kept most of my colors pretty light. I think I'll be exploring this technique a little more and share my results with you all. Taylored Expressions Release Day & Another Giveaway!

Today the Taylored Expressions Baker's Dozen designers are showcasing a brand new product: Taylored Card Kits! Each kit is jam-packed with: 10 Choice Cardstock A-2 card bases 10 A-2 envelopes 15 sheets of patterned paper sized for cardmaking at 4" x 6" (3 sheets each of 5 double-sided patterns) 20 sheets of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Prism cardstock (4 sheets each of 5 colors) 1 package of Kaisercraft Pearls 8 panels of Choice Cardstock size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (for images and layering) 5 yards of ribbon (2.5 yards each of 2 different styles) 1 Perfect Package Card Box Even after I used some of the above supplies to decorate the Card Box and make five cards, I still had enough materials left over to make at least SEVEN more cards with as much patterned paper as I used on these cards shown. WSC109: Pursue Happiness

The Weekend Sketch Challenge is provided by Jenn this week. My sample uses one of the new stamp sets being released by Taylored Expressions today (10am CST) ... Discover Your Wings. I stamped this cool, funky butterfly once onto pink patterned paper and again on olive cardstock; then cut them out and adhered them together to get the two-toned effect. The butterfly was popped up on foam tape over a panel that I edge punched at the top. For the top horizontal element of the sketch I used pearls that were originally yellow, which I colored with my Copic YG95 marker so they would match the cardstock. I know they don't look too green in the photo above, but trust me -- they are! My camera is just disagreeing with me like a 3-year old this morning, LOL! And the pearls really are a lovely shade of warm yellow, but my camera is saying they look orangey to him today -- ugh! :D Anyway, I think you can clearly tell there is a difference in color once the pearls have been colored with the Copic marker! Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks & Blog Candy-Day 2!

Today the Taylored Expressions Baker's Dozen Designers are showing you sneak peeks of THREE new stamp sets that will be available on Friday, December 4: Sweet Occasions, Crafty Cuppie and Crafty Expressions. I'm showcasing Sweet Occasions ... a stamp set conceptualized by my good friend, Jami Sibley! I love these fresh, cute sentiments interlaced with sweet images ... literally! The set contains this cupcake with "thanks", a gingerbread house with "congrats", a heart/sugar cookie with "friend" and a bowl full of ice cream scoops with "celebrate"! There are also six additional sentiments in this set, along with four miniature images that coordinate with the larger images. I used the mini flower on the background inside the "thanks" box, stamped in a pale pink ink. You'll be able to see the full set tomorrow on the Taylored Expressions blog or maybe find all the images in the sneak peeks today! I stamped the focal image with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto some of the light pink solid patterned paper from Basic Grey's Bittersweet 6x6 pad and colored it with these Copic markers and Spica glitter pens (Lipstick & Chocolate): Chocolate Spica Glitter Pen outlines the "thanks" sentiment and Lipstick sparkles up...
