JustRite Stampers has another new cling stamp set release -- Fancy Labels! This set is made to coordinate with Spellbinders existing Labels 13 die set and the new Winter 2011 Labels 18 die that was just relvealed yesterday by my sweet friend, Debbie Olson, on the Spellbinders Blog Frenzy!
I chose the larger frame from this stamp set and stamped it with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink onto some Webster's Pages light yellow Nature's Storybook Petite Paper, then die cut it with the 2nd to largest Spellbinders Labels 13 die:
Images from JustRite's Original Ribbed Large Oval stamp collection fit nicely in the oval of this frame, so I chose an Iris floral from the new Beautiful Day set to coordinate with it. I stamped the Iris with pitch black pigment ink onto some of the same lavender background paper I used on this card, then heat embossed it with clear detail powder and colored it with these Copic markers: BV11, BG13, BV17 G82, G85, Y15.
Yes, you CAN use Copics with embossed images! You will just need to test your combinations of inks and powders. Usually it's best to use a clear powder over a colored ink, as the Copic ink may break down a colored embossing powder's color and contaminate/clog the tip of your marker. But if you are careful and don't color over the embossing too much, you shouldn't have a problem.
When coloring on a colored/printed paper as I did here, you will need to test your Copic colors, as they will appear darker. After coloring, I cut the Iris out and popped it up over the frame, which is also popped up. The striped scalloped border is the reverse side of the patterned paper and was punched with Martha Stewart's Simple Scallop border punch. The card's right edge is accented with Kaiser Craft rhinestones.
The seam binding ribbon was custom dyed with Copic BV000 Various Ink Refill. To do this, place winter white ribbon in a baggie and drop in your reinker:
Seal up the bag and squish around the color. This will prevent your fingers from becoming the same color! Open the baggie and let the ribbon air dry. Or if you are impatient like me, wad the ribbon up in a paper towel to speed up the process, although the Copic alcohol ink will dry fairly quickly! I had a bigger bow planned, that's why I used so much ribbon, but it just didn't work on my card!
The "Just for You!" sentiment I used here is also from the Fancy Labels set and will fit in either of the frames, too! So how do you like these new stamps that fit Spellbinders' dies? Awesome, aren't they?!!
