Hugs To You!

JustRite Stampers is introducing a beautiful "label" stamp set today -- Hugs To You, currently in stock and shipping: There are all kinds of possibilities with this set, from straight stamping with colored ink, embossing, to even coloring these pretty labels . . . I chose to color! I covered a #8 Manila Tag with some beautiful Webster's Pages Petite Spring Market Paper and then stamped the label and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black onto some of the same background paper, then colored the gorgeous swirls with these Copic markers: I love all the dimension this label has -- it's all one layer! I used the T1 marker around the sentiment rectangle, to make it appear layered. Stamping and coloring on patterend paper also gives a varied and multi-layered look. The three soft gray scallops on each end of the label stamp are the embossed areas from the Spellbinders Labels Ten die -- I colored them with the T1 Copic marker: It's may be difficult to see in the photo (clicking on the photo will give you a larger view), but I made faux gemstones out of the green oval accents on each side of the sentiment. 2011 Copic Colors

Good morning! I have a PSA for you this morning: If you didn't already reserve your set of 12 new 2011 Copic Sketch marker colors from Ellen Hutson, she still has some sets available for purchase HERE (or click on the graphic above). I'm sure they'll be scooped up quickly, so hurry while you have the chance! :) I also finished refilling the markers I showed you on my Workdesk Wednesday post. Those most-used colors of mine that needed refilling are: BG0000, BG01, BG78, E30, E33, E35, G12, R22, R24, R27, R29, R32, Y11, WOO, W1, W3 and can be found on my Copic FAQ page (scroll down below the different marker photo types). I keep a running list of the markers I've refilled, which indicates those are some of my favorite and most-used colors, in case you'd like to know what those colors are. Road to a Friend's House

Ahhh . . . I had some coloring therapy earlier this week and this was the result: (Click on any photo for a larger view) I LOVE these Birdhouses from JustRite and just hadn't had time to color all of them in the set yet, so I remedied that and added this sweet sentiment from JustRite's new Song In My Heart large oval set! There are some great sentiments in this set! The birdhouses were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Copic's X-Press It Blending Card and colored with these Copic markers, to match the patterned paper: I also used Copic's Atyou Spica Glitter Pens in Chocolate, Olive, Pink and Turquoise to accent the houses, for some added shimmer. The sentiment was stamped with Ranger Adirondack Lettuce dye ink and then the images die cut with Spellbinders Labels Eight Nestabilities. While the cardstock was still in the die, I airbrushed it with Copic BG11 marker. JustRite Elegant Frames

Good morning, I have another new JustRite stamp set release to share with you today! This one is a beautiful, versatile Elegant Frames cling set: The oval frame in this set coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Ten Nestabilities die and the rectangle frame coordinates with JustRite's Custom Nested Frame Dies (largest), to make it easy-peasy to cut out these pretty frames! I decided to make a Springy 6-inch scrap page of my girls: (Click on any photo for a larger view) I stamped the large frame with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and then die cut the frame, using JustRite's largest Custom Nested Frame Die around the outside and Spellbinders Petite Classic Oval-Lg Nestabilities die #2 on the inside, to create this photo frame: The edges of the frame were sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then popped up over the photo of my girls (with 3D Foam Squares) that I printed in an old photo/sepia tone. The sentiment in the upper left of the photo ("There's No One Like You") is also from this stamp set. Workdesk Wednesday - Copics!

Here's what's on my workdesk today: (Copic storage units are from Studio 3 Solutions) I've been doing my annual coloring of a new Copic color chart, getting ready for when those pretty, new 12 Sketch colors arrive (they have begun shipping to retailers!), so I can add those color swatches to my chart! In case you missed it, I have updated my downloadable Copic color chart with the 12 new Sketch colors -- you can find it on my Copic FAQ, Color Charts &Tutorials page of my blog. Coloring a new chart each year accomplishes two things -- It makes sure I test each of my markers to see if they need refilling AND ensures I have an accurate color chart. Since Copic ink is dye based (in an alcohol solution), the colors *can* fad over time, especially when exposed to a lot of light. Plus, since Copic has added new colors the last two years, I've needed an updated chart each year! Just a note: I've also updated my Copic Certification page with some tentative locations for the new Intermediate classes. Vintage Oval Label Birthday

It's beautiful this week in Texas -- sunny skies and in the 70's, so I'm having fun bringing out all my pretty Spring patterned papers to play with! Evidently I'm also in the shabby chic mood because this seems to be the general direction of my cards this week, too! Today I have another March release stamp set from JustRite Stampers to share -- this gorgeous cling Vintage Oval Labels! This stamp set has two beautiful label stamps -- the large one coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Thirteen Nestabilities die and the smaller label stamp that I used here coordinates with Labels Six Nestabilities die! I stamped the label once with Memento Rose Bud ink (the center portion) and die cut it with Spellbinders Petite Classic Oval Nestabilities die (smallest in the large set) and then stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from JustRite's Happy Everything Mini Tag Kit in the center with Rich Cocoa ink. I love that all 18 of the mini sentiments from the mini tag kit will fit with this beautiful label stamp! My Rainbow

JustRite Stampers is introducing its March release this week -- we'll have new stamp sets to show you every day this week and two more sets on Monday and Tuesday next week! Here's the first new March release, for the large oval JustRite Original stamper, My Rainbow: To color coordinate the sentiment with this gorgeous Webster's Pages hydrangea paper, I inked the sentiment with Oasis Green VersaMagic Chalk Ink and the border with Lettuce Ranger Adirondack dye ink and stamped them separately onto Neenah Natural White cardstock. Spellbinders Classic Oval-Lg Nestabilities dies match all of JustRite's large oval images perfectly -- I used them to die cut the sentiment and border separately. Then I used Spellbinders Labels Six Nestabilities to die cut aqua cardstock to frame the whole sentiment. All layers are sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink and popped up on 3D Foam Squares. Tied ivory buttons accent each side of the sentiment. A paper doily was cut in half, sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink, and machine stitched to the patterned paper. Enjoy Your Day!

A new JustRite Friday Challenge has been posted and this one is to try the Direct To Rubber or Rock-N-Roll technique -- some way to get more than one color of ink onto your stamped image, in one stamping! Here's my sample, that uses a brand new not-seen-before stamp set that will be debuted next Wednesday, Heart to Heart: This set fits the large oval stamper, has a nice contrasting rectangle area for a sentiment, and this particular stamp frame is accented nicely with Spellbinders Labels Ten die, I thought! This stamp set is already available for ordering, will begin shipping next week, and will be formally introduced on the JustRite blog next Wednesday. I used Memento water-based dye markers to color the rubber stamp directly with two different colors. Great news is that JustRite is now carrying all 24 colors of Memento markers in their webstore, for easy one-stop shopping! Spring Basket Thanks

Thanks for all of your warm welcomes to Gina K's design team . . . I' know I'll have a blast working with the large variety of fabulous illustrator's images! And to answer a few questions I received -- I'm not leaving any of my other teams, so hopefully you'll continue to see a variety of images here at PaperFections! My sweet fellow Texan friend, Melanie Muenchinger, once again designed a wonderful new floral set for Gina K Designs, Spring Basket: I stamped the flowers with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Copic's X-Press It Blending Card and colored them with these Copic markers (specific colors for each part of the images are noted below in the supply section): The flower centers were accented with Lemon Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pen and all of the flowers were cut out and popped up on foam tape over the paper pieced basket. COPIC TIP: Adding shading with Copic markers to patterned paper will really give the paper pieced image a realistic look. Emboss Resist With Copics!

Today over in the CLASSroom, I share the emboss resist technique -- the traditional way AND using Copic markers so I hope you'll join me over there, for the full details! While making this 8-inch wall art piece, I LOVED using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur: I was able to put this entire sheet of 8-inch Graphic 45 Springtime paper into the machine and not have to trim and waste ANY of it -- I LOVE that! February Calendar

I finally finished my February calendar -- at least I got it finished before the month was half over (just barely)! As a reminder, I'm using a new size of downloadable calendar I made -- these are half sheets of 8.50" x 11" cardstock, measuring 5.50" wide X 8.50" tall and computer printed right onto ivory cardstock. The top is decorated with Echo Park Be Mine paper and accented with this sweet new Lockhart Ribbon Heart stamp: I stamped the heart with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Copic's X-Press It Blending Card and colored it with these Copic markers Atyou Spica Glitter Pens, to match the printed paper: I free-form cut out the heart and solid pink cardstock mat behind it and popped it up on foam tape. The wonderful sentiment is from Gina K Designs Winter Wonderland Stamp TV Kit -- so pretty! I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Natural White cardstock, cut it into a banner shape, and then accented the edges with Copic R85 marker. Workdesk Wednesday

You all cracked me up with all of your comments on my first Workdesk Wednesday blog post! Yes, my desk is usually messier than that first photo, but remember -- I had just done a MAJOR cleanup! Here it is today, back to it's usual in-the-middle-of-working-on-too-many-projects-at-once mode: (Copic storage towers can be found at Studio 3 Solutions) I knew it wouldn't stay that clean for very long -- I still have some remnants left over from last week's projects! Those images in the middle are some Lockhart stamped images on Copic X-Press It Blending Card that I started coloring for my February calendar (yep, back to running late on that, too!). This is as far as I got Monday evening when I decided I needed to run some errands yesterday morning after taking my kiddos to school. We had an Arctic cold front hit North Texas overnight (wind chills are below zero!), and I wanted to get what errands I needed run and stock up on some groceries before the possibility of being snowed & iced in again for a few days. JustRite Valentine & Tuesday Trigger

Today's new JustRite Friday Challenge #048 is to follow this sketch I created: Here's my sample I created: These fun papers are from Basic Grey's new Hopscotch 6x6 pad -- love them! I used a sentiment from JustRite's Friendship Nested Frames that I thought would work well as a Valentine for a dear friend! I stamped it with Ranger Espresso Adirondack dye ink onto dotted Hopscotch paper and then used Spellbinders Labels Fourteen to die cut a frame to pop up over the sentiment. JustRite just made the announcement that they are now carrying a selection of Spellbinders dies that coordinate with many of their stamps! You can find them here and more shapes will be added to their web store as they arrive in their warehouse. The heart border is Martha Stewart's Doily Hearts Edger punched from chocolate cardstock and topped with more Hopscotch paper. Some pink seam binding and a Maya Road chipboard heart (covered with Hopscotch paper) finish it off.
