Good morning! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop ... Gina and Cast and Crew will inspire you with many beautiful ideas! As you hop through the blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K Designs products! To see the full list of winners, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hops!
Here's everything you get in this fantastic Journey of the Heart kit -- what a great variety! You'll be able to make everything from get well, anniversary, love and baby cards, to sympathy, birthday, thank you, thinking of you, congratulations (and more!) cards AND scrapbook pages!
My first card uses the Bundle of Love stamp images from the kit -- aren't these little love birds adorable?!! I stamped them with Gina K Cherry Red ink onto patterned paper
(click on any photo for a larger view):
The branch was inked with Memento markers, stamped, and then the branch and hearts were all glittered with Clear Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pen. Some of Gina's Bowl of Cherries buttons were tied and placed in a row along the bottom. Behind the patterned paper is a layer of die cut Cherry Red cardstock on an Ivory card base. Gina's Black Onyx gingham ribbon finishes off the top of the card.
Next, I combined the two botanical sets from the kit (Love & Prayers and Little Branches) to create this fun shadow technique. First, I stamped the floral images with Gina's Kraft ink onto Ocean Mist cardstock (this creates the shadow part):
Next, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, reposition the stamp upward and slightly to the left of the Kraft stamp image and stamp with Gina's White Pigment ink:
As part of my New Year studio clean-up resolution to actually USE all of the scraps I keep (thinking I'll use them one day but usually never do!), I finished the card by positioning the stamped image underneath a scalloped die cut circle (Gina's Kraft cardstock). The Ocean Mist postage left edge was another leftover die cut piece! I tied it up with Gina's white organdy ribbon and popped the piece up with Copic Foam Tape over an Ivory card base sponged with Kraft ink. To accent the scalloped circle, I traced along the inside edges with Sand Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pen.
Using this same technique but in reverse, below I stamped the images first with the white pigment ink onto Kraft cardstock, allowed to dry, then stamped over the white (this time repositioning the stamp slightly down and to the left) with Gina's Passionate Pink dye ink:
The white pigment ink behind the dye ink creates a brighter finished image on the darker Kraft cardstock background. Just to show you the difference, the flower on the far right in the photo below was stamped directly on the Kraft cardstock without the white pigment ink beneath it -- see how much darker the same ink looks?
Finally, as I was using the pretty leaves from the Love and Prayers set to create my Gina K Color Charts (you can download your free charts from StampTV, HERE):
I was stamping off the leftover ink onto some scratch paper before cleaning the stamp and moving on to the next color. I kind of liked the gradient look of my scratch paper, so I made it into a bookmark! (Please pardon the tattered look of the book -- it was my mother-in-law's very old and very well-loved dessert cookbook, which I adore!)
I just repeatedly stamped the image downward until all of the ink was off, cleaned my stamp, then moved on to the next color! The Gina K inks I used here were (from bottom to top): Innocent Pink, Bubblegum Pink, Passionate Pink, Cranberry Tart.
To finish the bookmark, I used this lovely sentiment from Melanie Muenchinger's Stately Flowers 3 set, stamped with Cranberry Tart ink.
I am saving my creation with the darling bird/balloon Party On set from this kit for a fun surprise for you next week, so stayed tuned and please check back!
Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to check out all the amazing designs and inspiration with this kit, Journey of the Heart, and be sure to leave comments, for your chance to win some Gina K goodies!
