Here are a few projects I’ve made so far with this fabulous kit:
I adored this umbrella and sentiment and knew right away I wanted to make this type of rainbow colored card with Gina’s fabulous colors of Color Companion Cardstock in: Passionate Pink, Bubblegum Pink, Sweet Mango, Sweet Corn, Jelly Bean Green, Turquoise Sea, Powder Blue, and the beautiful new limited edition cardstock color that coordinates with the 2014 Pantone color of the year, Wild Orchid (available while supplies last)!
This card was easy to make -- I started with a postage stamp Silhouette cut file (which was one of the free downloads last week in the Silhouette Online Store!) and cut it from Gina's White Heavy Base Weight Pure Luxury Cardstock. I use a blade depth setting of 8 with Gina's heavy cardstock and select Coverstock (Heavy: 105 to 122 lb.), speed-1, thickness-33, Double-cut.
After cutting the frame, I used the inside rectangle to stamp the sentiment with Color Comanions Black Onyx ink. Next, I cut 1/2-inch strips of the cardstock colors and adhered them to the rectangle, trimming off the excess. I used the free Shabby Spring StampTV Kit Silhouette Cut File Download to cut the umbrella, which was stamped and then colored with Y06 Copic marker. I used Copic Pitch Black Atyou Spica Glitter Pen to fill in the polka dots on the umbrella. The center rectangle and umbrella are popped up on foam tape, over a card base of Sweet Corn cardstock.
I'm in the process of freshening up my craft studio and changing out the older red accents to my favorite Gina K Color Companions colors -- Turquoise Sea and Ocean Mist! So I did the same for this 9" x 7" wooden photo frame I have on display (the accents on it were previously red). This Mother's Day 2007 photo of my girls remains one of my favorites!
The wonderful stitched oval frame and butterfly were stamped with Black Onyx ink onto White Color Companions cardstock Silhouette die cuts. The sprigs were stamped with Sweet Corn ink and the fabulous sentiment with Turquoise Sea. The butterfly was colored with Copic B00, BG52 and YR21 and popped up over the oval frame.
The sentiment oval is backed with a scalloped die cut of Turquoise Sea cardstock. Black double-stitched ribbon accents the wooden patterned paper covered frame. Rhinestones accent the photo opening.
And my apologies -- I am having printer problems, so my next project will be delayed a day. I hope you’ll check back here again tomorrow for my April calendar! P.S. Never let your husband install a new printer when you are frantically trying to finish up taxes AND crafty projects, LOL!
