Day 3 of My Favorite Things May 13th Release Countdown is under way . . . Just 5 days left until the release! Today the design team is focusing on this sweet sequin goodness stamp set, You Were Meant to Sparkle and coordinating Sequins Die-namics:
How fun is this set?!! The card I created is a shaker, filled with sequins die cut from MFT's beautiful cardstock colors AND sequins stamped on the card front in coordinating Hybrid Ink colors . . . shut up! :) I adore when things matchy-matchy! It's a little hard to tell in the photo above since my sequins are behind acetate, but half of the die cut sequins have faceted sequin line detail embossed in them . . . so pretty!
Here's another view where you can maybe see the acetate sheet behind the new Rectangle Frames Die-namics I used for the pretty Berrylicious shaker frame:
To make my sequins really sparkle, I filled a water reservoir brush with MIX-ables Shear Shimmer Mist to create my own paint-on glittery goodness!
I painted it on the Sparkle banner (created by die cutting a Smooth White Vertical Stitched Strips and stamping in Razzle Berry Hybrid ink), stamped sequins on the card front, and the "Wherever you go" sentiment. Hopefully you can see the subtle sparkle in this photo (and some of the sequin die detail) by clicking on the photo for a larger view:
The shaker was easy to create . . .
1. Die cut medium Rectangle Frames from Berrylicious cardstock. On the back side, place a piece of acetate (I used overhead transparency film but you could use any piece of acetate from packaging, etc.) cut just inside the frame width. This way, the foam tape will serve two purposes -- to attach the acetate to the cardstock frame AND to hold the shaker material. Copic's 1/4-inch X-Press It Foam Tape worked perfectly for the width of the frame:
2. I like to use my embossing static-removing bag on the acetate, to help prevent the shaker material from clinging to the acetate and not moving around freely.
3. Place shaker material (die cut Sequins) inside frame. You won't need too terribly much -- it will fill up faster than you think! I didn't even use all of the three different colors I die cut (Berrylicious, Banana Split and Razzle Berry).
4. Remove the foam tape liner. I like to place another piece of acetate over the back of the shaker material (on top of the foam tap) -- this makes it easier to make adjustments to the amount of shaker material, if needed, and to easily see where you are placing the shaker to your card front! If you are happy with the amount of shaker material and after the shaker is all sealed up, use double-sided high tack tape to adhere the shaker to your card front.
To finish the inside of the card, I used the leftover piece of Berrylicious cardstock from the center of the shaker frame and stamped "sparkle" with Versamark Dazzle Frost ink.
I attached a piece of double-sided high tack tape to the bottom of the rectangle and scattered more die cut sequins.

Love the tip about the embossing buddy. Nothing worse than having your filling stick to the transparency and not shake. Great card. Love the colors.
