Welcome to the My Favorite Things May Release Rewind - Day 2! I hope to inspire you with more ideas for those new May goodies you've purchased and are patiently waiting to be delivered or to help you finish up your shopping, if you are still on the fence about anything! For me, it’s a chance to (catch up on my scrapbooking--yay!) and use some of the new products that I may not have had the chance to show you yet that are available right HERE, right NOW in the MFT Boutique!
Direct links to all products used on my project today can be found at the bottom of this post.
I only asked for one thing for Mother's Day this year -- a sweet photo with my girls and luckily, they obliged! (Click on any photo for a larger view):
So you know us crafters (at least me -- please tell me I'm not the only one?!) . . . we save everything, because you never know when it may come in handy -- right?!! So you'll never guess what these flowers are made out of . . . (well, some of you may recognize it immediately!) . . . the pretty pink tissue paper in which your MFT products come gorgeously wrapped, LOL! So that dictated the whole color scheme of this page!
The tissue paper falls right between MFT's Pink Lemonade and Bubblegum cardstock colors, so I went with my new all-time favorite pink cardstock color, Pink Lemonade, as an accent color -- I die cut it with the gorgeous Floral Fusion Cover-Up Die-namics. The base of my 8" x 8" page is MFT's beautiful Steel Grey (on the top half of the page), stamped with the new Pinstripe Background in Whip Cream Pigment Ink.
The "Mom" letters are MFT's Bottom Line Alphabet Die-namics, cut from pretty silver glitter paper -- isn't that a great title font! Accenting the Pink Lemonade Floral Fusion flower centers is more of the silver glitter paper cut with the new Sequins Die-namics.
Here's how I created the photo frame:
Die cut the new largest Rectangle Frames from Pink Lemonade and Steel Grey cardstock, then:
1. Stagger two of the Pink Lemonade frames as shown below in #1, then center the Steel Grey frame on top, centering it (#2). Glue together. I added another Smooth White frame on the bottom side, just to give it more stability/sturdiness:
The Grout Gray bottom half of the page background was created by inking through MPD Petal Pattern Stencil, using Versamark Dazzle Frost ink.
The ink ended up having a gorgeous silvery metallic quality to it, combined with the Grout Gray! Hopefully you can see that in this closeup:
That fantastic sentiment is quickly becoming one of my favorites! It's from the new Watt’s Up? stamp set. I heat embossed it with silver fine detail powder on my favorite Fishtail Flags die cut, popped up on foam tape. And I meant this of my children -- THEY really do make my world brighter (aww)!
And now for those gorgeous "mum" pink tissue flowers: They were die cut with the new Gerbera Daisy dies! Shown below are the two largest flowers from two sets -- something you may want to consider when mass producing things like invitations, announcements, and holiday cards. 2 dies = half as many times having to work your die cut machine!
1. Just fold up the tissue paper into as many layers as you think your machine can handle and cut away:
2. Next, stagger two of the die cut daisy stacks together (petals from the top one in between the petals of the bottom one -- sorry, I still show the layers separated in the top of the photo below) -- being careful at first to not disturb the tissue stacks.
Also not shown above -- Die cut an additional single layer of coordinating cardstock daisy and place it on the bottom of the stack to help give the tissue stability, then:
3. Staple the center and then begin curling the flower petals between your fingernails, like you might curl ribbon -- grab one of the top daisy stack's petal groups and gently pull upward, then release. The result should be like shown above -- the petals will curl towards the center. Work your way around the top layer/stack of petals and then continue with the bottom group of petals. You should end up with something that looks like this:
How fun is that?!! To finish the flowers, I die cut the centers from Grout Gray cardstock and popped them into the centers with foam tape. See all the great dimension they have:
P.S. -- Pages like these with lots of dimension I display on an easel! But since the fluffy flowers are made from tissue, they should collapse down enough to get into an album, if needed.
That’s it for me today . . . Head on over to the MFT Blog for a complete list of the other designers who also have projects to share on today's Release Rewind. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and THANK YOU for your sweet comments – I’ve loved hearing from you over the past week!

Beautiful card! Precious girls. You're a lucky mom! I can't wait to get back in my craft room and make some cards. My niece is getting married next week in Baton Rouge and I've been very busy helping her with wedding plans. Then it's back home and I think I might just shut myself up in my room and pretend I'm not home. This card may be the first I try my hand at. Love it!
