My sample today uses the fun new At The Office stamp set and Blueprints 16 to create a gift card holder! When I first saw this fun stamp set, the highlight circle reminded me of the ring a coffee cup would make on furniture … so coffee is the direction my thoughts went. I must not have had my daily allowance yet that morning, LOL!
So then I set out to make a coffee cup. Luckily, my Fishbowl Die-namics set was still sitting out on my desk from last month’s release and it turned out to be just the right size and shape! This is the inner bowl or water portion, die cut from Primitive White cardstock.
To create the cup’s handle, I cut a small circular frame using two Circle STAX dies:
Oh, and that “coffee stain ring” stamp that inspired the whole card? I ended up not even using the stamp for that … But it did turn out to create a great Cotton Candy lipstick ring at the top of my cup!
Spring Backgrounds turned out to be the right size and scale to create a chevron design for my cup. I curved the stamp slightly when sticking it to my acrylic block, so it would bend around the cup:
Once stamped, it doesn’t look all that curved but trust me – if it had been stamped straight, it would look off/strange!
To create the background behind the cup, I used the new Large Polka Dots Stencil and a dauber with Blu Raspberry Hybrid ink:
Inside is the gift card portion:
To create the slots for the gift card, I used the round slot from Blueprints 16. First you will need to place your gift card inside the card and mark two corners lightly with a pencil:
Then position the circle slot die right up to the corners of the pencil markings and die cut as shown, just inside the corners of the gift card:
Once the slots are cut, erase the pencil lines and you have a perfect gift card holder!
Inside the top flap of the card I stamped the new Notebook Paper Background in Blu Raspberry Hybrid ink. Below the gift card is a Primitive White panel, stamped with that great At The Office sentiment inked in Blu Raspberry and Kraft Hybrid inks – I love this combination of fonts! A Cotton Candy star die cut (from BP16) coordinates with the colors in the gift card and the lipstick ring on the coffee cup!
The coffee cup is popped up on foam tape over a "saucer" I created with the largest circle frame die from BP16, cut from Natural and Kraft cardstock.
