Hello and welcome to the My Favorite Things August Release Rewind - Day 2! I hope to inspire you with more ideas for those new August products you've purchased and are patiently waiting on to be delivered, or to help you finish up your shopping, if you are still on the fence about anything!
I didn't get a chance during the release to play with the adorable new Birdie Brown Witch Way is the Candy and her coordinating Die-namics or the Witch's Cauldron, so I have two projects using those products for you tonight! (All products used are linked at this bottom of the post).
My first project is a candy jar that is currently hiding my stash of Hershey's Milk Chocolate with Almonds Nuggets (shhh, don't tell my kids!) -- yum!! I think it would also make a great teacher's gift, for their desk:
I used a piece of MFT's Translucent Vellum to cover a 6-inch tall recycled olive jar (2.50" diameter), to give the jar a frosted look. The Spooky Scene Die-namics ghosts were die cut from the vellum before adhering it to the jar. Here's a little closer look at those cute ghosts -- you can see the candy inside the jar through them!
Sweet Birdie was stamped onto her coordinating Die-namics with Black Licorice Hybrid ink on Copic X-Press It Blending Card. She was colored with these Copic markers:
The jar lid was also dressed up, with a Grape Jelly Circle STAX die cut, stamped with the sentiment. I cut the sentiment apart and curved it to fit the shape of the circle. Mr. Toad was colored with Copic YG32, YG23, YG17 and BG11 markers:
Birdie's cat was stamped onto a Circle STAX die cut from Sour Apple cardstock and shaded a little with Copic T2 and YG23:
Next, I have another fun jar project -- this time using the Witch's Cauldron as a jar topper for my annual stash of Orange Spiced Tea (aka Russian Spiced Tea -- recipe follows):
This time I used a short wide-mouth Ball canning jar and the cauldron fit perfectly on top of the lid! The cauldron was cut from Black Licorice cardstock and given an Orange Fizz Dripping Goo Edge. The bubbles were die cut from Kraft cardstock, sponged with Kraft Premium Dye ink and gittered with MFT's Glitter Glaze:
My favorite ghost from Spooky Scene Die-namics was cut from Primitive White cardstock. The Spooky Sentiment "Wicked-Good" was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Liquid Platinum embossing powder. The "boo" sentiment from the Trick or Treat Die-namics was cut apart and letter Negative Dot Alpha "R" added.
I created a belly band for the jar, using another Dripping Goo Edge and Birdie Brown's bat, colored with Copic T2, T4, T5, and R20:
Here's my recipe for Spiced Tea:
1 lb. 5 oz. container Tang powdered orange-flavored breakfast drink mix
4.4 oz. jar lemon instant tea (can use sweetened, diet, regular or decaf)
1 C. sugar (omit if using sweetened tea)
2-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
And here's a sugar-free/low carb version I recently found and will be making this year:
2/3 cup unsweetened instant tea
1 cup Sugar-Free Tang or other orange drink mix
2 small packages lemonade mix (unsweetened)
1 1/2 cups Splenda (measures like sugar)
1 Tablespoon Cloves
2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
That’s it for me today … Head on over to the MFT Blog for a complete list of the other designers who also have projects to share on today’s Release Rewind. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and THANK YOU again for your very sweet comments over the past week of release projects and posts – I always love hearing from you!
