Operation Write Home - Finishing Strong!

Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, is nearing the end of its mission and will be closing later this year. So if you have a stash of cards you've been meaning to send in to help our service members keep in touch with their friends and family, now's the time ... all cards need to be received by August 1st. Anniversary Sole Mates

Hello, friends! This week is special for my husband and I ... we celebrate 21 years of marriage! So naturally, I wanted to make him a special card: (All bold products are linked below in the supply section): I played along with the current Mix It Up Challenge over at Ellen Hutson's the CLASSroom which ends tonight, so hurry if you want to participate in this one -- prizes are up for grabs! (A new Mix It Up Challenge will be posted the first of next month, if you miss this one)! The challenge is to mix Avery Elle with Essentials by Ellen stamps or dies, so I used Avery Elle's wonderful Simply Said "Love" die with Julie's Essentials by Ellen Folk Hearts dies to create the popped up focal image ... I love the shape of the heart dies! I made a frame with two of the hearts and cut them out of Neenah 110 lb Solar White cardstock. I also used Julie's new 12 Days Companion Greetings stamps on the outside as well as the inside of this card ... I adore this font! Bistro Lights Flamingo

Happy Monday, everyone! Today I'm bringing you this sweet Yard Flamingo from Pink Ink’s Spring/Summer 2015 release – isn’t s/he adorable?!! (All bold products are linked below in the supply section): I couldn’t wait to try a fun stamping technique, mirror stamping with it! The original flamingo image is the left one. To get the mirrored right image, I just stamped the image onto an acrylic stamp block (stamp carefully on the slick surface) and then used the block to stamp onto the Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock, next to the left flamingo … easy peasy! The large flat surface of the back of an acrylic stamp (mounted “backwards” onto an acrylic block) will work just as well (and probably better) than just an acrylic block … that was all I had handy at the moment. You may not get a perfectly stamped image -- I needed to fill in a few spots with my Copic Multiliner, but that’s fine by me! After stamping the images with Copic-friendly Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored the flamingos with these Copic Sketch markers: Also shown is the Copic Black Multiliner pen I used to fill in the mirror stamped right...
