Happy March, everyone! Today I am sharing a Spring home decor project with you, using some of Pink Ink Stamp Company's latest stamp release!
This photo holder/stand was a gift from a dear friend nine years ago, shortly after we moved into our last house. I thought it was only fitting to spruce it up a bit, since we will be moving into a new home in one short month ... thus, the great "New Beginnings" sentiment! So I made a watercolor background on a 4" x 6" piece of watercolor paper using Tumbled Glass Distress Reinker:
Once the background was dry, Copic Opaque White was used to paint the clouds -- I thinned it with a bit of water and painted it on the watercolored background with a brush:
Next, I stamped Pink Ink's Row of Bulbs and New Beginnings sentiment with Versamark Ink onto an Inchie Arts 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" ATC Art Board and gold heat embossed it. I always love how nice and crisp Pink Ink's red rubber stamp images stamp and emboss -- such pretty fine details! And the Art Board stands up to the heat embossing, Copic coloring AND the Opaque White being heavily painted onto it!
The flowers / leaves / pots were colored with these Copic Sketch markers:
Hyacinth: BV02, BV04 / YG61, YG63 / Y15, Y17
Daffodils: Y15, Y38 / YG03, YG07
Tulips: RV63, RV66 / YG61, YG63 / BV02, BV04
Shadows: C0, C2
Background/Sky: BG0000
Copic Opaque White was used to create patterns and fill in the middle white pot. Here are a few details about Opaque White:
Water-based pigment.
Easy warm water clean-up.
Perfect for finishing highlights and effects.
It won't bleed into your base color and allows for sharp line definition.
Works great on permanent inks, such as Copic markers, as well as watercolor.
Apply with a brush.
Easily thins with water for added effects.
Comes in either a 30 cc jar/pot, or 10 ml "nail polish" type bottle with brush that provides sharp line definition.
For the middle flower pot, I simply used a watercolor brush to paint on a thick coat of the Opaque White that comes in a 30 cc jar/pot to give the flower pot great texture:
Using one of my favorite crafting tools (a wooden toothpick!), I made dots on the yellow pot:
Lastly, I used Copic Opaque White that comes 10 ml "nail polish" type bottle with brush to paint thin lines/highlights on the purple flower pot ... Look at that super fine brush! (Click on photos for a larger view):
All those details really make this piece come alive, don't they?!!
The stamped Art Square was mounted with foam tape to the watercolor background and anchored with a thin strip of aqua stripe patterned paper. Then the piece was inserted into the photo holder = Easy-peasy new Spring artwork!
Wish me luck with the "New Beginnings" -- packing, doing some reno to the new house, moving, and un-packing! Now you know why I may be a little scarce around the blog here for a few weeks! Happy Spring!

I love your card, and my Copic Opaque White. It's my secret ingredient for snow/star splatters. Mixed about 50:50 with water in a Mini Mister, it gives the best tiny, opaque white random dots I've been able to find. I keep one mister labeled and devoted to that purpose.
