Do Something Creative ...

Hello, Friends!  Today I am sharing a custom sign/framed artwork I made for my new studio:

I created the sign in a Word document using some fabulous fonts from a great new website I discovered, Little Big Crafter. For my sign, I used the Will Shering Sans font for the "Do Something" and "Everyday" words, printing them in pretty colors that coordinate with my studio and the butterflies (more on those a little later):

The pretty "Creative" word was created with the Zombis Night font -- I printed it in a very light gray, so I would have a guide which I could use to hand letter it and create faux calligraphy!  I wish I possessed the skills to create beautiful calligraphy myself but since I don't, I thought this was the next best thing!

For the "Creative" word lettering, I used a new Copic pen, the Gasenfude (pronounced: gas•en•fu•day), that has a nice nylon brush tip that is beautiful for hand lettering. The ink is both water and Copic-proof (water based, black pigment ink) for drawing, lettering and coloring. The long nib takes a little practice to work with if you are new to brush pens but still very easy to work with, in my opinion. It gives you a full range of line widths, all in one pen, and the ink is a beautiful very dark black that colors easily and smoothly!  These features make this the ideal pen for hand lettering, calligraphy, comic art, doodling, or traditional brush art.  You can read more about it HERE and/or purchase HERE.  

The butterflies are from the newest Intro to Coloring with Copic Markers book by Marianne Walker (sold HERE). The butterfly image is included in the book, for you to practice the lessens taught in the book.  I just scanned it into my computer, placed them into my Word document, and printed the document onto X-Press It Blending Card.  I used a little bit lighter Copic marker color combination suggested in the book on pages 14-15: BV02 and BG53.  

The book is a great resource to get you started with blending techniques and color selection!

I used the suggestions on page 31 for blending colors from different color families, and feathered strokes to color by butterflies, for a smooth blend.

A very creative art. I have learned some useful things by reading your post. Actually I'm graphic designer and typography lover as well as i would love to design new fonts. So today i just got to know something more creative.
