Today I would like to share one of my most favorite papercrafting products with you, Foam Tape ... I use it on just about EVERY project I make, to create interest and dimension. Plus, it is a fabulous adhesive!
I use it to raise a simple sentiment up off the background so it stands out, becomes the main focus, and doesn't blend into the background:
Foam tape adheres all kinds of textiles, including heavyweight cardstock (shown above), ribbon, buttons, felt (shown below):
Use many layers of foam tape to create a dramatically dimensional realistic flower:
As you can see, foam tape is a great option for adding dimension to your crafting projects and my favorite is X-Press It Foam Tape. It holds firmly, yet removes cleanly and won’t damage surfaces. And since it is acid and solvent-free, it is also perfect for scrapbooking! It comes in two different types:
Double-Sided Foam Tape
1/2 inch or 3/4 inch x 4.4 yards
Acid-free
Solvent-free
Create 3D effects
Easily apply by hand
No static liner -- means the liner is easy to peel off and won't stay stuck to your fingers when trying to remove it!
Perfect for mounting
Ideal for scrapbooking
Suitable for a wide range of substrates
If you looking for an even stronger version of the X-Press It Foam Tape, then High Tack Foam Tape is perfect for you! While this version offers all the same amazing features as regular foam tape, the High Tack version offers an extra strong adhesion. And I have personally experienced that it also usually removes cleanly, if needed -- you know, when you change your mind and need to move something around on your card or scrapbook page! :)
Double-Sided High-Tack Foam Tape - (This is my preferred type)
1/2 inch x 4.4 yards or 1/4 inch x 2.2 yards
Acid-free & Solvent-free
Create 3D effects
Easily apply by hand
No static liner
Perfect for mounting
Extra strong adhesive
High grip on metals, glass, wood, paper, plastics and fabrics
And when compared to national leading brands, it is usually the same price per yard, if not less expensive!
I've been using this fabulous tape for the past 5 years (2011, one year before it was made available for public purchase) and the foam seems more dense to me than a leading national brand competitor’s foam tape that I had used previously. What this means is that even though the different tapes SAY they are the same thickness (2mm or 1/16th inch), I believe X-Press It’s is denser and therefore does not compress/flatten as easily and feels thicker to me . . . here's the proof (click on photo for a larger view):
I hope you will give X-Press It Foam Tape a try and let me know what you think about it!
