Welcome to the "Get to know the new 2018 Ellen Hutson Design Team" Blog Hop! If you are visiting my blog for the first time via the blog hop, my name is Sharon Harnist and I’ve been papercrafting since 1995 when I started scrapbooking. I was introduced to stamping and cardmaking in 2004 and found a lifetime love! I started this blog in 2007, shortly before joining some of the first designers for Ellen Hutson's fabulous online shop! I am very proud and honored to have been around that long and today we are introducing and getting to know some new designers to the team. Today we'll be sharing some of our favorite things . . .
Even as a seasoned card maker, I enjoy learning tips & tricks from other crafters! My favorite tip/trick is ... to use a stamp positioner to achieve perfectly aligned stamping! Case in point ... this bookmark:
My Misti stamp positioner helped to make sure these sentiments were aligned properly AND helps to make sure stamp impressions are sharp and clear!
To create the background for this bookmark, I used one of my favorite and most versatile crafting products, Copic Various Ink Refills on Yupo paper. If you missed or need a tutorial on how to create alcohol ink backgrounds, you can find one I recently did in Ellen Hutson's the CLASSroom here.
After using rainbow colors of Copic alcohol inks for the background, I stamped the sentiments with Catherine Pooler's awesome Midnight ink ... it performed beautifully, even on the slick surface of the Yupo paper AND on top of the Copic alcohol ink! To make the sweet All Inside bear (one of my favorite Essentials by Ellen stamp sets!) stand out against the background, I die cut an additional two bears from white cardstock and layered them behind the bear.
What are some of your favorite papercrafting products?
So you can get to know everyone on the 2018 Ellen Hutson Design Team a little better, we were all asked to answer these questions:
Coffee or tea? Hot (black) tea in the mornings, iced tea in the warm afternoon! And I'm from the south, so it's all sweet tea! :) And if not tea, it's Diet Dr. Pepper . . . or wine! ;-)
How did you come up with your blog name? A combination of my tag line of "Sweet confections made of paper" -- Paper (con)Fections, and Paper-Perfections (since I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to crafting!).
Tell us one silly/random/interesting tidbit about yourself! I may have been known to wear flip-flops in almost any kind of weather! ;-)

Stamp positioners have been a revelation for me. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to lining things up, so I'm with ya on what a valuable tool they are. So happy to be on the team for another year with you Sharon.

Couldn't get along without my Misti now. I am somewhat a perfectionist, though I try not to be extreme about it, and the Misti has helped me in many ways. Your tag is so cute and I look forward to more from You!

I love how colorful your bookmark is, Sharon!! This just screams to my soul, sister-friend. ♥ Funny how your favorite trick is using the MISTI, I can't stamp straight to save me. I used to use that Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and even THEN I couldn't stamp straight. LOL! So yeah, the MISTI was made for me. I don't have any Copic refills, but I DO have alcohol inks and Yupo. Will have to give it a go as a just love your bookmark. (And mister bear.) So thrilled that we're still designing together. ♥

Sharon, I LOVE your bookmark. I haven't tried Yupo paper yet but it is on my list of things to try, it looks like fun to use.
I love using water colour paper for a LOT of my projects and I recently got a LF shammy and I am loving it. I have been making cards since 1999 and I love to learn new things. For all the time I have been doing this I am STILL learning everyday and I love that!
Side note: I wear flip flops all year round too. It is cold here (in N.S. Canada) in winter so I don't wear them outside, I'd break my neck but I wear them every day, year round... LOL

Sharon, your colorful background on the bookmark is so perfect with the bear. I haven't tried playing with yupo. I saw some in Michael's this week but didn't get it. I think I should go back. I am so happy to be working with you on the Ellen Hutson team. We have such a talented group of designers and it is so fun to see all the different paper crafting styles. I also enjoy remembering when we first got to know each other on SCS. Time sure flies by so quickly.

Hi Sharon! Yes, aren't the Catherine Pooler inks amazing? They look so crisp on your wonderfully saturated background here. All Inside Bear is honestly one of my favorite EBE sets ever, I could use him on just about everything (especially since he holds things!) So excited that I get to be on a team with you ... really love your creations and talent. What a fun year this will be!
