Hello, crafty peeps! It's release day over at Ellen Hutson LLC and we have some Fantasmagorical new products to share today! What exactly is Fantasmagorical? Well, I will defer that question to Julie Ebersole, the creator of this stamp set, but I sure had a blast playing with her new Unicorns 'N Rainbows stamp set and coordinating dies! And evidently July is World Watercolor month, so I threw in some of that, too! ;-)
To create this watercolor rainbow shaker card, I used a background of watercolor paper and brushed Tumbled Glass Distress Ink over a cloud stencil, using a fabulous new-to-me tool: Clarity Stencil Brushes!
These amazing brushes give such a smooth and soft blend ... I'm totally hooked on them! Next, I stamped the adorable unicorn and his rainbow with Memento Gray Flannel ink onto more watercolor paper, then used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to watercolor them both. Then I used their coordinating Unicorns 'N Rainbows dies to cut them both. Next, I die cut a spot for my rainbow from the stenciled cloud panel, then stamped the awesome sentiment (from the new Pure Magic stamp set), using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I used my Misti to stamp the sentiment, which allowed me to color directly on the sentiment stamp and re-stamp as needed, to achieve good coverage with the markers. Finally, I die cut the lower edge of the background panel using a Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Borders 2 die and used the rainbow die cut opening as a guide to adhere the colored rainbow to the underlying cardfront.
To create the shaker element, I simply turned the die cut cloud panel to the back side, placed a piece of acetate over the rainbow die cut hole and adhered the acetate using foam tape around the edges. This creates a "well" in which to place all types and sizes of sequins. I used 4mm clear, 6mm clear cupped sequins, and sparkling clear stars. Next, take the liner off the foam tape and place another piece of acetate over the well of sequins. Place more foam tape on the back of the cloud panel and adhere it to a white card base cut with the same scallop border along the bottom.
Finally, I used the Clarity Stencil Brush with Tumbled Glass Distress ink to create the blue border you see at the bottom of the card. It is actually the inside of the card!
I used the cloud stencil again, but brushed on the color a little heavier than the card front. Finally, the card was finished by stamping the clouds with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, die cutting them, and adhering them to the card front. And of course where there are unicorns and rainbows, one MUST use glitter {wink}, so Clear Wink of Stella was brushed on the unicorn's mane and the bottoms of the clouds.
You are Fantasmagorical for making it through this blog post and for visiting me today! ;-) I hope you'll check out the Classroom blog over at Ellen Hutson, to find the other fine ladies who have some projects for you today as well!
